Many new features are coming to Android's Find My Device.
In addition to locating devices that are connected to the internet, the new Find My Device feature can also search for offline devices, even those that are turned off or have a dead battery (for a few hours), thanks to low-energy Bluetooth technology on some phone models like the Pixel 8 and 9.
Furthermore, Find My Device now supports locating a wider variety of devices, including third-party tracking devices like Chipolo and Pebblebee. An unauthorized tracking alert has also been added, helping users detect unfamiliar Bluetooth tracking devices attempting to track their location.
Similar to Apple's Find My, the new Find My Device leverages the power of a global, anonymous device location network built from the Android user community itself. Every device can participate in the search for other lost devices, with security ensured by end-to-end encryption.
Users can enable Find My Device in system settings and use the Find My Device app or website ( www.google.com/android/find ) to locate, sound an alarm, lock, or remotely erase data from the device.
With these significant improvements, Find My Device has become a powerful tool to help Android users protect their devices and feel more secure when their devices are lost.
