Creating a national green digital map

Launched at the forum "Double Transformation - A Driving Force for Economic Growth: Perspectives from Policy to Practice," GreenMap is considered by experts as a comprehensive ecosystem integrating green tourism, green finance, green communities, and green governance, contributing to the realization of the National Green Growth Strategy and the Net Zero commitment by 2050.

According to Mr. Ha Van An, founder and chairman of A&B Eco Green Joint Stock Company: "If Google Maps helps people find their way, then GreenMap shows us how to live." This statement clearly reflects the spirit of the project: transforming green tourism into a nationwide movement, where technology becomes a bridge between individual awareness and social responsibility.

On GreenMap, over 3,000 routes across 21 green travel itineraries, along with thousands of "Green Spots"—from restaurants, hotels, OCOP stores, to organic farms—are digitized and identified. Each location is displayed with a green flag symbolizing a commitment to living in harmony with nature, and every visit and user choice is recorded as a specific green action.

What makes GreenMap a pioneer is its ability to connect data, finance, and community within a single platform. The application not only helps travelers plan sustainable itineraries but also opens opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to access green funding and preferential credit, while providing a points and cashback system to encourage responsible consumption.

On a macro level, GreenMap aims to establish a national green data infrastructure where all green actions are recorded and made transparent. When this data converges, Vietnam can monitor the "green health" of its economy through the number of trees planted, the amount of waste recycled, or the reduction in emissions. This is how technology is used to monitor, evaluate, and promote concrete action.

Promoting inclusive growth

The emergence of GreenMap also carries profound social significance in the context of the increasingly evident climate crisis. Vietnam, one of the countries most severely affected by climate change, needs action tools capable of mobilizing the community and creating transparent monitoring mechanisms. GreenMap was created precisely to meet that need.

Programs like "Own a Tree," "Exchange Trash for Gifts," and "Single-Use Plastic Credits" have transformed environmental slogans into concrete actions. The green credit conversion system helps people see the value of each small action, while businesses can demonstrate their social responsibility through publicly available data.

Another unique aspect is the "Golden Resource" network, a team of volunteers comprising retired officials, laid-off workers, and dedicated individuals, who play a role in verifying information, monitoring, and spreading the movement at the grassroots level. They become "mobile green points," contributing to bringing the spirit of environmental protection to every community.

GreenMap not only supports the two levels of government in managing green development, but also helps businesses become more transparent in production and empowers citizens to be more proactive. This is a three-way synergy model: the State, Businesses, and the Community, working together to create new value for the green economy.

Beyond its administrative functions, GreenMap also embodies the innovative spirit of the digital age. The "Eco Pass" application combines augmented reality (AR) technology, allowing users to participate in challenges such as planting trees, collecting trash, or community relief efforts, transforming environmental protection into an engaging experience for young people. Simultaneously, the "Community Blackboard" tool enables consumers to monitor the supply chain transparently, protect OCOP products, and combat counterfeiting.

From an economic perspective, GreenMap paves the way for hundreds of thousands of businesses and smallholders to access green markets and preferential capital, while contributing to a sustainable shift in consumption patterns in society. Every citizen recognizes that they can become part of a global solution simply through their daily choices.

GreenMap's vision for 2030 is to digitize all 34 provinces and cities, integrate 20 million Green Points, and "own" 1 billion trees on its platform, creating a digitized map of green actions in Vietnam. This is not just a number, but a commitment to a long-term journey where technology and people work together towards sustainable prosperity.

As Mr. Ha Van An shared: "GreenMap's success is not due to technology, but to a change in awareness and behavior. When each citizen becomes a green agent, the country will naturally become a green, sustainable, and proud Vietnam on the world map."
