Griezmann leaves Atletico

Just hours after Atletico Madrid's 2-3 defeat to Real Madrid, striker Antoine Griezmann departed for the United States to finalize his transfer to the MLS.

Griezmann has decided to move to the United States to play football.

According to The Athletic , the French striker has been given permission by his club to proceed with the final procedures to join Orlando City. The two sides are expected to sign a contract lasting until the 2027 season, with an option to extend. Griezmann will officially wear the Orlando City jersey from July 2026.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano used the familiar phrase "Here we go" to confirm the deal was complete. "At the Florida club, Griezmann will wear the number 7 shirt. The contract will be finalized this week," the Italian journalist added.

Moving to the US to play football marks a major turning point in the career of the 2018 World Cup champion. Orlando City is a rival club in the same state as Lionel Messi's Inter Miami. This club is actively pursuing a trend of attracting European stars to play in the US.

Griezmann's departure also marks the end of a glorious chapter in La Liga. He is currently Atletico Madrid's greatest ever goalscorer with over 200 goals, and has been an icon for many years.
