Gyokeres wants to move to Arsenal instead of Manchester United. |
The Swedish striker is being pursued by both Arsenal and Manchester United this summer. Manchester United are reportedly keen on Gyokeres, as manager Ruben Amorim previously worked with him at Sporting. However, according to Record , Gyokeres has decided against a move to Old Trafford, and Arsenal is the most likely destination.
Manchester United's management contacted Gyokeres and Sporting directly this week, but the offer from the "Red Devils" was not convincing enough for the 27-year-old striker. The lack of European qualification is a negative point for the Old Trafford club.
Arsenal submitted an initial offer of £55 million, which was rejected. Notably, Gyokeres was reportedly angry because he had reached a "secret" agreement with Sporting that he would be allowed to leave if he received an offer at that price.
Another problem arose from a clause in Gyokeres' contract with Sporting when he joined the club from Coventry in 2023. Gyokeres' agent would receive 10% if a team offered £51 million and the offer was rejected. This forced Sporting's chairman, Frederico Varandas, to find a way to compensate for the shortfall if he sold him for less.
Arsenal are preparing to make a second offer. However, everything now depends on whether Gyokeres' agent and Sporting can reach an agreement. If not, Sporting will demand the activation of his £84 million release clause.
Meanwhile, MU may turn their attention to Victor Osimhen. However, the Nigerian striker would have to take a pay cut to move to Old Trafford.
