According to Sky Sports Italy , Manchester United rejected AS Roma's loan offer for Joshua Zirkzee and are only willing to consider a permanent transfer.
"The proceeds will be used to sign Antoine Semenyo. MU believes that exchanging Zirkzee for Semenyo would be a significant upgrade to the squad at a low cost," the sports newspaper reported.

Previously, the English press revealed that negotiations regarding personal terms between Roma and Zirkzee were progressing positively. The former Bologna player wanted to leave Manchester United and had almost agreed to Roma's personal terms. The "Giallorossi" considered Zirkzee an ideal addition to their attack, given his versatility and long-term development potential.
The capital club wanted to finalize the deal as soon as possible, but Manchester United hesitated due to several players being absent because of injuries or participation in AFCON 2025. Now, the door to joining Roma on loan has completely closed for Zirkzee.
Zirkzee is valued at around £30.5 million. The player is willing to consider offers in January, as he needs more playing time to compete for a place in the Netherlands squad for the 2026 World Cup.
