To ease the long-standing traffic congestion at intersections, the Hanoi Department of Transport has proposed building an underpass running through Ring Road 3, including the Me Tri - Duong Dinh Nghe, Hoang Quoc Viet - Tran Vy and Tay Thang Long - Ring Road 3 intersections. It is expected that these 3 projects will have a total investment of nearly 4,500 billion VND. Photo: Google maps

The starting point of the underpass on Me Tri Street will be about 500m from the intersection, and the ending point on Duong Dinh Nghe Street will be about 500m from the intersection. To ensure that the urban road surface on both sides of the underpass has enough space for 2 motorized lanes and 1 mixed lane, it is necessary to cut a part of the pavement of Me Tri and Duong Dinh Nghe Streets.

More than 1 km away is the underpass of Hoang Quoc Viet Street extended with Pham Van Dong Street connecting to Tran Vy Street. This is also a project proposed for implementation in the near future. The project belongs to Group B, with a total estimated investment of 2,293 billion VND.

Currently, the West Thang Long axis section through the project research area is under construction. However, due to site clearance issues, about 500m of the section from Pham Van Dong to Van Tien Dung cannot be implemented. The Department of Transport has requested the Hanoi People's Committee to direct Bac Tu Liem District to speed up site clearance for the West Thang Long axis project so that the underpass can be built soon.
