Fireworks displays will be held at 31 locations during the Lunar New Year.

According to information presented at the meeting on preparations for Tet (Lunar New Year) organized by the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee on the morning of December 27th, the Hanoi Capital Command announced that Hanoi will have fireworks displays at 31 locations to celebrate the 2024 Lunar New Year. Each district and town will have one location, except for Hoan Kiem District which will have two. Compared to the 2023 Lunar New Year, Hanoi has increased the number of high-altitude fireworks display locations (from 7 to 9), with 600 fireworks at each location. There will also be 22 low-altitude locations with 120 fireworks stands each. Previously, during the 2022 Lunar New Year, Hanoi did not hold fireworks displays due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the meeting, Mr. Pham Tuan Long, Chairman of the Hoan Kiem District People's Committee, stated that during the New Year's Day celebrations, the district will hold a countdown festival at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square. In addition, the Ho Guom pedestrian street will also be open for four days during the New Year's holiday (from the evening of December 29th to January 1st, 2024) to serve the public for recreation.

Later that same day, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, Tran Sy Thanh, also chaired a meeting to hear reports from various units on the decoration of trees and flowers, lighting, and environmental sanitation before, during, and after the 2024 New Year, the Lunar New Year (Year of the Dragon), and other major holidays and anniversaries in 2024. At the meeting, Mr. Do Dinh Hong, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports , stated that in 2024, the department has proactively developed plans for decoration, propaganda, and visual promotion of 7 fixed billboard clusters in the inner city and gateways of the capital. Simultaneously, 36 double-sided billboard clusters will be decorated on the median strips of roads in the city center; 2,800 banners will be displayed along main roads and streets in the city center. In addition, artistic lighting will be installed on the lamp posts of 15 streets and roads. Continuing the propaganda activities at 55 LED screen locations… "The Department of Culture and Sports proposes that the City People's Committee allow the continuation of artistic decoration and lighting activities through a socialized model," said Mr. Do Dinh Hong. In conclusion, Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh requested that the decoration and lighting in the capital must ensure aesthetic criteria, a unified theme in the urban context, and especially ensure sophistication.
