US House Speaker Mike Johnson (left) leaves the chamber after the vote.
The vote on the Israeli aid bill failed with 250 votes in favor and 180 against, while the bill needed the support of two-thirds of the US House of Representatives to pass.
According to NBC News, 46 Democratic lawmakers supported the bill, while 14 Republican lawmakers opposed it.
Democratic lawmakers argue that the bill is a "victim" of politicization , given that the U.S. Senate has already passed separate bills on aid to Israel, as well as on the border with Mexico and aid to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Republican lawmakers, led by former US President Donald Trump, rejected the deal in the Senate.
Points of conflict: Trump threatens aid to Ukraine; Russia, China, and the US engage in a war of words over Middle Eastern hotspots.
US House Speaker Mike Johnson had previously rejected Democratic efforts to combine aid to Israel with other security budget allocations, including aid to Ukraine, and sought to pressure Democrats to pass a separate aid bill for Israel.
This result marks a second consecutive defeat for Johnson as Speaker of the US House of Representatives, following a failed impeachment vote earlier that day against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
The Joe Biden administration announced on February 5th that it would oppose a bill providing separate aid to Israel.
The bill's unfortunate fate occurred as hardline Republican lawmakers sought to block the passage of a $118 billion bill in the Senate, which included border security policies and foreign aid to countries and territories such as Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan.
