(PLVN) - The World Customs Organization has chosen the theme for International Customs Day 2025 as "Customs Authorities Committed to Efficiency, Security and Prosperity".
On January 24th, the General Department of Customs announced that the World Customs Organization (WCO) had issued a notice regarding International Customs Day on January 26th, 2025, and the theme for 2025.
Accordingly, the theme for 2025 chosen by the World Customs Organization is “Customs Offices Committed to Efficiency, Security and Prosperity,” aiming to call on member customs offices to demonstrate a positive commitment to implementing WCO tools and translating them into concrete actions to facilitate trade, ensure supply chain security, and promote sustainable economic development.
Through this theme, the WCO calls on its members to promote the implementation of specific actions toward each objective.
Specifically, regarding the Efficiency objective: Modernize customs procedures, apply digital transformation, develop automated data exchange mechanisms, and strengthen the Single Window System to facilitate and reduce customs clearance time; Promote data-driven procedures and utilize modern technologies such as data analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data to support decision-making and risk management; Utilize scanning machines and other technologically advanced equipment, robots, drones, and other mobile detection and inspection devices to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of management and supervision; Optimize procedures and strengthen partnerships, ensuring compliance with the revised Kyoto Convention, maintaining consultation mechanisms, and enhancing communication channels with businesses.
Regarding security objectives: Enhancing supply chain security through the implementation of the Framework for Security Assurance and Trade Facilitation; Preventing the illicit trafficking of prohibited goods such as small arms, precursors, explosives, nuclear materials, and strategic items; Combating money laundering and preparing for emergency situations.
Regarding the Prosperity Goal: Promote reforms and support business operations, especially for startups and new businesses, through providing comprehensive information and support for market entry; Ensure effective tax management and collection, strengthen the integrated revenue management system, enhance review and evaluation, update knowledge on trade trends for customs officers, and provide comprehensive information to facilitate businesses in complying with tax regulations; Promote sustainable economic development, contributing to the development of a green economy, environmentally friendly products, and minimizing environmental damage in line with the Government's sustainable development goals; Develop comprehensive policies and tools to address the challenges of various target groups, ensuring inclusiveness and fairness, taking into account the practical operations of small and medium-sized enterprises, with particular attention to diversity and gender equality.
