Following a request from the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City, Google has provided over 4,200 free accounts to teachers to support teaching and learning in the "digital school" model.
Mr. Nguyen Thai Vinh Nguyen, Head of the Education and Training Department of Thu Duc City, said that more than 300 teachers participated in the training program in person, while the rest attended online. After the training session, the teachers will enter a self-study phase, with support from the Education and Training Department and the Google for Education team.
Teachers receive training in the use of educational technology (EdTech) applications, digital transformation, and personalization of teaching and learning.
According to Mr. Nguyen, the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City had previously issued a plan to implement the Google "digital school" program at educational institutions in the area from 2023 to 2025, aiming to enhance the digital capabilities of teachers and staff in primary and secondary schools with a Google-standard training program and certification.
In addition, teachers are provided with a digital platform to build interaction with students on this platform, ensuring safety and security, controlling content and applications on devices, and supporting students in bringing their own devices to school.
"In particular, we integrate AI applications to support teaching and learning activities and improve work efficiency. It's easy to expand and apply the latest Google technologies to support digital transformation and personalize teaching and learning," Mr. Nguyen said.

According to the leaders of the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City, the goal of "digital schools" is to build schools that operate according to the digital transformation orientation, improve the quality of facilities compared to standards, and build educational institutions that apply management and operation to effectively utilize the information connection axis and shared database of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training. It aims to actively deploy and apply IT in management and operation, build a nationwide database on education and training to serve educational management information. This includes deploying online school management software, connecting schools with parents, using electronic gradebooks, electronic student records, etc.
