HUTECH's 30-year journey of growth: For a comprehensive university ecosystem

Three decades ago, amidst the country’s strong transformation, a university was established with the aspiration to nurture Vietnamese intelligence, contributing to bringing knowledge to life. From that challenging beginning, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) has gradually grown, shaped its own identity, and persistently accompanied the young generation on the journey to create the future.

30 years – not only a milestone in time, but also a journey of innovation, of relentless efforts to build a modern university ecosystem: where academic knowledge is promoted, professional skills are nurtured, and every student has the opportunity to become the best version of themselves.

As a highereducation institution, the primary goal that HUTECH pursues is to build a modern academic space, where knowledge is not only imparted but also practical application value is created.

From the very beginning, HUTECH has determined the training orientation for students "not only knowing, but also being able to do the job". Along with the theoretical foundation equipped with a solid foundation, the School encourages students to try their hand at projects, transforming knowledge into practice. The system of laboratories and specialized practice rooms for each industry such as the Media studio, simulation bank, mechanical workshop, microchip - semiconductor and new material design center, etc. are constantly upgraded, where the young generation nurtures the spirit of innovation and creativity.

Keeping up with the 4.0 industrial revolution, the School has expanded its training to new majors and majors such as Artificial Intelligence, Microchip Design, IoT Technology and Communication Networks, etc., while integrating tools such as AI into teaching so that students can develop their ability to master technology effectively and responsibly.

In parallel with training activities, HUTECH systematically conducts scientific research activities with strong multidisciplinary research groups and specialized institutes such as CIRTech Institute of Technology and HUTECH Institute of High Technology. At the same time, it invests in building a professional research environment, welcoming experienced scientists to lead research topics with high scientific content and great community service value.

Understanding the importance of inheritance in research, scientific research activities of students are also emphasized. With the support of the teaching staff, for many years, the School's students have made a strong impression at the Ministry-level Scientific Research Award and the Euréka Award. Many former students have returned to continue the mission of their predecessors, fueling the scientific fire for the next generation.

The journey has not been too long, but it is enough for HUTECH to position itself as a center for knowledge transfer, science and technology transfer, and to propose breakthrough solutions for sustainable development. The event of becoming a co-founding member of the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) in Ho Chi Minh City is not only a mark of pride, but also a motivation for the School to be more steadfast on the journey of accompanying the country's training and research career.

In the trend of educational innovation, universities are not only places to impart knowledge but also to encourage each student to discover themselves and nurture big dreams. At HUTECH, that mission is built on the foundation of a modern, practical and inspiring educational environment.

For the new generation of students, the requirements for academic experiences have also become more diverse and practical. Specialized competitions such as Mechanical Olympics, Robosumo Fight, Racing HUTECH for Engineering majors; IT Got Talent, AI Challenge for Information Technology majors; I-HUTECH Golden Bell, Super Kanji for Language majors, HUTECH Startup Wings for young people who love startups - are regularly organized by the University, where knowledge is applied flexibly and vividly.

Business tours, business semesters, job fairs in each field such as HUTECH IT Open Day, HUTECH TECHSHOW, HUTECH Career Day,... - each opportunity to "touch" the real working environment, young people understand more clearly about the career path they are on, more confident with their future choices.

And when the school bell rings, the journey of self-development continues in a different and equally interesting way. From famous playgrounds such as HUTECH's Got Talent, HUTECH Acting Stars, HUTECH's Host, Miss HUTECH to exciting sports activities such as HUTECH Games - an open space for students to shine and mature. Each of these experiences is a brilliant color in school life, and unlocks the full potential of each individual. More than a university, HUTECH is a place for students to become the best version of themselves with full knowledge, talent, courage and breakthrough.

In the context of globalization, connecting with advanced knowledge platforms is an inevitable trend of higher education to bring learners closer to international standards. Identifying international linkages as the key to improving the quality of training and research, HUTECH aims to reach cooperation agreements with prestigious universities, organizations and businesses in the world such as University of Auckland, University of Nottingham, China Medical University, Khon Kaen University, Hanyoung Scholarship Fund (Korea), Korea Foundation, Green Shoots Foundation, ACCA,...

The school actively participates in international educational organizations such as becoming a member of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), participating in the Transnational Education Development Project (EmpowerTNE) - a key initiative of the British Council. Each cooperation agreement is not only a strategic handshake, but also a commitment to jointly create a modern academic environment, nurturing young people with the potential to bring Vietnamese intelligence and courage to reach far.

On the basis of that international cooperation, HUTECH has developed many specific international programs, helping students confidently enter the global labor market. Typical are the international joint Master's and Bachelor's programs with Lincoln University (USA), Open University Malaysia (OUM), Cergy University - Paris (France); the Vietnam - Japan program with consulting and training method transfer from Kanazawa University of Technology (KIT - Japan); or the Vietnam - Korea program implemented in cooperation with 20 major universities in Korea.

Right at school, students can still touch the dynamic international environment. Japanese cultural festivals, Korean cultural festivals, Taiwanese food festivals or international exchange programs such as Bukkyo Study Tour, Global Service Learning, Vietnam Summer Program, Learning Express (LeX) gather students from Japan, Singapore, Germany, Netherlands, Korea, ... - a bridge for students to immerse themselves in a colorful, multidimensional world.
