Recently, the TEDxDAV 2023: Nexus conference was held, featuring meaningful presentations from guest speakers. Exploring the theme of Nexus connectivity in the context of saturated information technology, insightful perspectives and ideas were presented across two sessions: Connecting by leveraging information technology and Connecting by detaching from information technology.

The workshop was attended by six guest speakers: Miss Vietnam Luong Thuy Linh; CEO & Founder of The A List Do Tuan Hai; stage artist Ho Ngoc Bao Khiem; Master of Psychology Pham Thanh Mai; Teacher of Social-Emotional Studies Truong Ho Tan; ASEAN Volunteer Star Hoang Hoa Trung, along with staff from the Student Training Management Board of the Diplomatic Academy.

Connectivity through leveraging information technology.

Opening Session 1 with the theme "Connecting by Leveraging Information Technology ," speaker Pham Thanh Mai provided a visual overview of the multifaceted impact of technology on mental health, sharing stories that, while personal, were also universally relevant about technological devices in modern life.

Besides addressing psychological issues, the TEDxDAV 2023 conference offered audiences new perspectives on the application of technology in accessing and promoting cultural values ​​through a presentation by speaker Do Tuan Hai with the message: "There are many different ways to experience and connect with culture, and the development of technology and information provides us with many different ways to experience and connect with culture."

The first session concluded with a presentation by speaker Hoang Hoa Trung on leveraging digital technology in charitable projects both domestically and internationally . With his favorite quote, "Technology is a tool that connects resources to create positive values ​​in society," he believes that information technology has broken many barriers, allowing compassion to be realized through action. According to him, sincerity and creativity, along with the support of digital platforms, are the keys to the success of each journey.

Connecting while disconnecting from information technology.

Drawing on her extensive experience in community service, speaker Luong Thuy Linh shared insights at the workshop on the connection between humans and nature in various aspects, while also pointing out ways to help people temporarily detach themselves from modern technology and reconnect with the world around them.

Following the second session on the theme of "Connecting While Disengaged from Information Technology ," speaker Truong Ho Tan explored the topic of connecting with the body through movement . Through various forms of artistic expression, speaker Truong Ho Tan presented perspectives on the question "Who is contemporary art for?" and provided theories on how to connect with the human body's movement according to the four levels of SEL competence: self-awareness; self-management; social awareness; and building healthy relationships.

With the theme "Connecting with the Community Through Applied Theatre ," Bao Khiem explored new aspects of improvisational theatre in helping individuals release burdens weighing on their souls, as well as freely express and share through community dialogue, while also helping the audience better understand the form of improvisational theatre in today's theater and forums.

The journey of spreading values

Continuing TEDx's mission of promoting dialogue, connection, and community development, TEDxDAV is organized with the desire to create a forum where students of the Diplomatic Academy can express their thoughts, explore various aspects of life, and gain a multifaceted perspective on relationships in today's society.

This will lay the foundation for expanding the research movement, developing critical thinking and skills, and honoring and developing the Academy's identity.

The workshop featured speakers with deep experience in their respective fields, encompassing diverse areas such as mental health, emotional education, connecting with nature, community development, culture, and society. Each participant may find their own "escape" from the digital age, rediscovering their fundamental "connections" after the presentations.

The TEDxDAV 2023: Nexus conference program has concluded, marking the 4th season on its journey to spread practical values ​​to the community through the sharing of speakers from the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam. Through the TEDxDAV conference, the organizers hope to provide participants with memorable experiences, leaving them with many thought-provoking ideas to inspire future initiatives and create positive impacts on the community, on “the NEXt US” – our future selves.
