In the context of artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and virtualization platforms transforming how Vietnamese businesses operate their IT infrastructure, storage systems are no longer just data repositories, but have become the foundation behind core operational applications.
This has led to increasing demands for access speed, stability, and continuous service availability. This is also why businesses increasingly need storage platforms that offer high performance while ensuring long-term operational stability.

Synology introduces PAS7700 - a high-performance storage system for AI and data centers.
Mr. Bie-i Chu, Executive Vice President of Synology NAS Group, stated: “ The PAS7700 is the culmination of 25 years of experience in developing enterprise storage systems at Synology, along with close collaboration with real-world customers. After a year of real-world testing through our enterprise proof-of-concept program, the PAS7700 has proven its reliability, high performance, and ability to optimize total cost of ownership (TCO) for businesses .”
The PAS7700 features a dual controller and 48 NVMe SSD bays in a 4U chassis, allowing for expansion up to 1.65 PB of raw storage capacity with support for 7 expansion devices. The system supports both file and block storage simultaneously with many popular protocols such as NVMe-oF, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, SMB, and NFS.
With a maximum memory capacity of up to 2,048 GB and 100GbE network connectivity, the PAS7700 can handle up to 2 million IOPS with latency under 1 millisecond and bandwidth up to 30 GB/s.
The PAS7700 is designed for environments requiring real-time data processing, such as virtualization, databases, and large-scale data processing environments. The system is also geared towards high-performance VDI, EDA, and AI environments demanding continuous operation.
The product is also aimed at businesses operating high-intensity data infrastructure such as data centers, manufacturing, semiconductor design, game development, healthcare , etc. These are environments that must process large volumes of data simultaneously, requiring systems to maintain stable performance and continuous operation.
Specifically, the PAS7700 is designed for environments where downtime and data loss are unacceptable. A key feature of the product is its active-active architecture, allowing two controllers to operate in parallel. When one controller or network component fails, the system continues to maintain service, minimizing the risk of business operational disruption.
The system is equipped with multiple layers of protection to ensure high availability, including triple-parity RAID, in-memory data synchronization, IP failover, and automatic failover at the protocol level, ensuring continuous operation even in the event of unexpected failures.
Integrated features include Self-Encrypting Drives (SED), WORM (Write Once, Read Many) shared folders, immutable snapshots, Snapshot Replication, and Hyper Backup, enabling businesses to deploy Synology's data protection suite right from system uptime.
According to the National Cyber Security Association (NCA), by 2025, up to 52% of businesses in Vietnam will have experienced cyberattacks. For FDI businesses, the risk is even greater due to the nature of managing high-value data and cross-border data exchange between Vietnam and their parent companies. Therefore, Synology also focuses strongly on protecting business data. The PAS7700 supports Self-Encrypting Drives (SEDs), providing hardware-level protection without impacting system performance.
Additionally, the system integrates WORM folders and immutable snapshots – snapshots that cannot be illegally edited or deleted after creation, minimizing the risk of unauthorized data tampering.
The PAS7700 simultaneously supports Snapshot Replication and Hyper Backup, allowing businesses to build multiple layers of data backup and recovery between the primary operating system and backup systems. This enhances data recovery capabilities in the event of failures or cyberattacks, a problem that has occurred in some cases.
Beyond performance, Synology also aims to optimize long-term investment costs for businesses. With many businesses expanding their data infrastructure, virtual machines, and AI workloads, the cost of high-performance storage is becoming an increasingly significant pressure on IT systems.
The PAS7700 supports advanced duplicate data removal technology, helping to minimize storage consumption for large-scale enterprise workloads.
In the future, the system will also support Synology Tiering, automatically allocating cold data to lower-cost storage based on customized policies, and dedicating high-performance storage to active workloads.
The entire platform runs on DSM Enterprise – an operating system developed by Synology specifically for its enterprise storage line, geared towards environments requiring high performance while ensuring intuitive and easy-to-use management.
The PAS7700 is now available globally through Synology's network of partners and distributors.
