This is a particularly meaningful activity, contributing to the success of the 1st Congress of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , term 2025-2030, and at the same time towards the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnamese Diplomatic Service (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025).

Historical journey mark

According to comrade Nguyen Xuan Anh, the trip is not only a practical activity but also a journey of gratitude, reminding young cadres of their revolutionary roots, better understanding the history of the nation, the sacrifices of the previous generation in the struggle for independence, thereby fostering patriotism and a sense of responsibility towards the country.

This is also an opportunity for the young generation of the Industry to "fuel" the pride and determination to build a strong, comprehensive, modern and professional Vietnamese Diplomacy, meeting the requirements of political tasks in the new era.

Within the framework of the program, the delegation visited the Ta Thiet National Special Relic Site - the base of the Regional Command. This is the place that marked the strategic decisions in the resistance war for national liberation. At the hall of this base, the Politburo approved the historic decision named Ho Chi Minh Campaign, paving the way for the total victory day of April 30, 1975.

Next, the delegation visited the Diplomatic House - the headquarters of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam. From 1969 to 1975, this place was the place to welcome diplomatic delegations, and at the same time, it was a witness to the fierce diplomatic battles associated with the Paris Agreement. The delegation members directly heard about the resilient and creative efforts of Vietnamese diplomacy during the resistance war against the US.

In addition, the delegation offered incense at the provincial martyrs cemetery in Dong Tam commune, commemorating the heroic martyrs. This activity has profound educational significance, helping the delegation members understand the value of independence, freedom and the aspiration for peace that generations of fathers and brothers sacrificed to gain.

Another highlight of the trip was a visit to Bu Gia Map Border Guard Station, where officers and soldiers work day and night to protect border sovereignty. This was an opportunity for members of the Diplomatic Corps to directly pay tribute to the silent sacrifices of the border guards and to see clearly the connection between the fields of diplomacy and national defense.

The delegation also experienced Bu Gia Map National Park - where there is a monument of the 4,990 km long oil pipeline from North to South, reminding of the silent feat of the oil transport force during the resistance war, proving the enduring strength and resilient spirit of the nation.

Feelings from the journey of gratitude

The members of the delegation were all moved when visiting the “red addresses” associated with historical events of the country. Secretary of the Youth Union of the European Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bui Ngoc Khanh Huyen shared: “This is probably the farthest trip back to the roots that the Youth Union of the Ministry has ever organized and that I have participated in. The journey has left many memorable memories, helping me to foster more love for my homeland, pride in the tradition of revolutionary diplomacy and gain more valuable knowledge”.

For the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs Youth Union, the program is even more meaningful as it takes place on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Foreign Affairs sector and the 50th anniversary of the Department. Secretary of the Department's Youth Union Le Thuy Trang emphasized that the trip is not only an opportunity to commemorate the contributions of previous generations but also to foster ideals, foster a sense of responsibility and a will to contribute to the country in the context of increasingly deep international integration. Although it was the first time the Ministry's Youth Union and the Department's Youth Union jointly organized the program, it was a great success, spreading the spirit of solidarity, consensus and cohesion between the union members of the two units.

The “Back to the Roots” trip is not only a journey to find the roots but also a precious opportunity for union members and young people to “touch” historical milestones and gain a deeper understanding of the glorious journey of the industry. Each step has increased the respect and gratitude for previous generations, while at the same time uniting union members into a strong collective, together writing the glorious history of the Vietnamese Diplomatic sector.

Meanwhile, comrade Truong Minh Hoang, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Financial Administration Department (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), expressed his honor to participate in the journey back to the roots of revolutionary traditions. He emphasized that the trip left many deep emotions through the activities of offering incense, visiting relics, exchanging with border guards... contributing to raising political awareness and arousing the desire to contribute in each member.

This is also a valuable opportunity to learn, connect, strengthen solidarity, and create more inspiration for the young generation of the Diplomatic sector to continue spreading positive energy, writing new pages for the sector in its 80-year journey and beyond.

Inheriting and promoting the tradition of 80 years of Vietnamese Diplomacy

According to Nguyen Dong Anh, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this trip to the source has special significance in the year of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the sector. He emphasized that this is an opportunity for the younger generation to feel more clearly the source of strength of Vietnamese diplomacy - a diplomacy that always serves the Fatherland and the people.

The activities of returning to the source not only help members acquire historical knowledge but also experience and feel with their hearts, thereby arousing professional pride and a spirit of dedication to serving the country. The place most clearly associated with the 80-year tradition of diplomacy is the Diplomatic House, where the 4-party negotiations took place after the Paris Agreement - a testament to the courage, intelligence and steadfastness of Vietnamese diplomacy.

The trip is also considered an opportunity to build a team of young cadres who are both "red and professional". Through practical experiences, the members are more aware of their responsibilities, public ethics and love for the profession, thereby striving to become brave and intelligent diplomatic cadres in the new context.

Mr. Nguyen Dong Anh hopes that each member returning from the trip will bring back a story, an image, a lesson to use as luggage, to spread inspiration and to inspire young colleagues, to continue the glorious tradition of the industry in the new era.

The trip to the source has become a bridge between history and the present, between the glorious past and the aspirations of the future. For the members, every step at the “red addresses” left a deep impression. It is not only a gratitude for the great sacrifices of the previous generation but also a reminder of the responsibility to continue the diplomatic tradition of Ho Chi Minh in the context of integration and development.

From these experiences, the young generation of the Diplomatic sector is motivated to inherit 80 years of tradition, nurturing patriotism, political courage and the desire to contribute. The trip has ended, but the spirit and values it left behind will continue to accompany the members on the path of serving the Fatherland and the people in the new era.
