On the morning of July 26, after much effort, National Highway 7 connecting the lowland communes with the "flood center" of Nghe An highlands was opened, the work of supporting people to overcome the consequences and stabilize their lives will be more favorable. However, there are many points to note for people across the country when coming to share the loss and damage of the government and people of the highland communes of Nghe An.
It has been 5 days since the flood, although the forces and people have tried to overcome it, many places in the highland communes Nghe An is still submerged in mud and garbage. The historic flood left serious consequences that the authorities and people of the highland communes will take many years to overcome. Hundreds of households had their houses and properties swept away by the flood after many years of hard work and saving. They have become literally penniless, their lives will be filled with more difficulties in the coming days.
With the attention of authorities at all levels, with the tradition of solidarity, mutual love and support of the Vietnamese people, people across the country are turning to the flood epicenter in the highlands of Nghe An with a heart of sharing. There are many groups carrying food, daily necessities, and cash to support people. However, the western region of Nghe An is mainly mountainous, with difficult and dangerous traffic. Especially after the flood, many places are isolated, with the potential for landslides. The centers of communes such as Tuong Duong, Muong Xen (towns of the old districts) are also flooded with mud, lacking domestic water, and finding a large parking space is also difficult...
Therefore, the delegations should come to the authorities and people of the highland communes of Nghe An in the most practical and effective way. Talking to us, comrade Nguyen Viet Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee of Muong Xen commune shared: “The people of the flood area really need the cooperation of the people of the whole country. But I hope that the delegations will come to our authorities and people with the motto of “going with few people, bringing many goods”. Because transportation is very difficult and dangerous, accommodation and living for everyone when staying in the area is also a big challenge”.
Sharing about the issue of receiving support for flood victims in the highland communes of Nghe An, comrade Nguyen Dinh Hung, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province said: “At this time, the authorities and people of the highland communes that have just experienced the historic flood really need the cooperation of the people of the whole country. The damaged communes have all organized direct reception points for goods and assets to support the people at fixed points in the locality. I hope that collectives and individuals will coordinate well with local authorities to make the work of supporting the people more effective and meaningful.”
Up to now, Nhon Mai commune is still isolated on all sides. The support reception point for the people will be organized by the government in My Ly commune, directly managed by comrade Mac Van Nguyen, Party Secretary. Then, local forces will be mobilized to cut down the forest and carry it to distribute to the people.
