With many advantages after the merger, Gia Lai needs to synchronously implement solutions on infrastructure, products, connections, etc. to be listed in the tourist destination rankings.

During the National Day holiday on September 2, the number of tourists to Gia Lai is estimated at 293,750, with tourism revenue reaching about 623 billion VND.

Great room for culture

Gia Lai province has just merged the two provinces of Binh Dinh and Gia Lai, so it possesses a diverse tourism ecosystem. With this combination, Gia Lai has sea, mountains, forests, cultural and historical heritage,... enough resources to create a complete range of tourism products.

After the merger, Gia Lai province has all the potential to develop community cultural tourism - ecology - resort, cultural history - science , creating unique and distinct products.

However, to become one of the “Top” destinations, Gia Lai still needs to do more in building destinations, upgrading tourism infrastructure, forming unique products, etc. to attract domestic and international tourists. Specifically, it is necessary to focus more on green tourism products, enhancing experiences, imbued with cultural identity, etc. so that tourists stay longer.

Giving advice to the locality, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Trung Luong - former Deputy Director of the Institute of Tourism Research, Member of the National Planning Advisory Group, said that Gia Lai's tourism space is expanding with a "prime" geographical location and unique tourism resource potential, especially the terrain, climate, landscape, ecology of the highlands - islands and the cultural heritage treasure of the Gia Rai, Ede ethnic groups... From here, many opportunities are opened for Gia Lai to become a "key area - Tourism growth pole" of the Central Coast region.

According to this person, after the merger, Gia Lai province has all the potential to develop community-cultural-ecological-resort tourism. At the same time, it is necessary to take advantage of the historical, cultural and scientific space to develop separate and unique products.

“Gia Lai is located as a “bridge” between the North Central and South Central regions, convenient for international and regional trade by sea (Quy Nhon port), road (Le Thanh border gate) and air (Phu Cat and Pleiku international airports). At the same time, Gia Lai has diverse and rich natural and cultural tourism resources potential, both in sea tourism and highland tourism, with 42 national-level relics, including 04 special national relics; 01 national park, 03 nature reserves, 03 recognized scenic spots. Opportunities to diversify tourism products based on advantages of diverse natural landscapes, biodiversity and cultural diversity”, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Trung Luong commented.

In particular, resources also come from the gong culture in Gia Lai, which is an important component of the Central Highlands gong culture, which has been recognized by UNESCO as a masterpiece of intangible cultural heritage and oral tradition of humanity. Along with that, Binh Dinh traditional martial arts and Roc Tung - Go Da relics have been recognized as national intangible cultural heritage and special national relics, and are currently being submitted to UNESCO for recognition as World Cultural Heritage; Kon Ka Kinh National Park - the roof of Gia Lai has been recognized as an ASEAN Heritage Park; The system of volcanic relics, typically Chu Dang Ya, Bien Ho (T'Nung Lake), Ham Rong Mountain, etc.

To become an unmissable destination, Gia Lai province needs to establish a "new development vision" with the position of "new tourism growth pole", focusing on developing tourism according to new trends such as healing tourism, health care tourism, green tourism, experience, etc. At the same time, positioning strategic development goals to 2030, vision to 2050 with the role of a unified "Tourist Destination" associated with international cultural and historical heritage values ​​based on the culture of the Central Highlands ethnic groups.

“Restructuring Gia Lai tourism with a focus on developing specific tourism products based on the advantages of tourism resources and innovative and creative thinking associated with the market in line with the new development vision. Investing in infrastructure

For the new Gia Lai province, experts believe that it is necessary to reorganize the tourism territory, in which the functional areas are redefined (focusing on the function of Central Highlands cultural tourism), the "core" value axes: cultural heritage axis (Chu Se, Mang Yang, Dak Doa - Tay Son); natural heritage axis (Kon Ka Kinh National Park - Thi Nai lagoon) with a focus on planning the identified national tourist areas. At the same time, it is necessary to reposition the value chain of heritage tourism, eco-tourism, community tourism associated with rural agriculture, event tourism associated with water sports, to bring about higher efficiency.

At the Gia Lai Investment Promotion Conference 2025, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that the locality will develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector, based on the advantages of the sea, mountain ecology, and the cultural heritage of the Central Highlands - Champa.
