The stories of organ donors in recent times have conveyed a powerful message about the noblest act of humanity.

Organ donation: A moving story of life and hope.

On the morning of March 9th, the family of Trinh Nhat Minh (18 years old, Hanoi ) learned that their son had been in a traffic accident and was being rushed to Viet Duc Hospital for emergency treatment. At that time, Minh's father was serving in the army in the mountainous Northwest region, his mother had a younger sibling, was in poor health, and their home was far from the hospital, so they couldn't come immediately.

Ms. Trinh Thi Thu, Minh's aunt, was informed at the hospital that her nephew was brain dead. "I couldn't believe it and it was very difficult to break the news to my brother…," Ms. Thu said.

Upon arriving in Hanoi, Minh's father, though not crying, had a choked voice. After discussing his son's condition with the doctor, he went outside and told everyone, "I want to donate Minh's organs to save lives, and I hope the family will support this."

"Initially, some people disagreed with organ donation, because everyone felt sorry for the deceased. But my brother said to respect his decision; he wanted his child to still be doing something useful for society even after death," Thu recounted.

The family gradually realized that, even though Minh was no longer alive, he could continue to "live" in someone else's body, giving life to others. And that was the most meaningful thing of all.

As a journalist herself, Thu had written numerous articles about families donating organs after brain death. However, when the news reached her family, she still couldn't believe it was true.

"He's gone, but his heart still beats, his breath continues in other bodies. That's how Minh left a beautiful mark on this life," Thu said, her voice choked with emotion.

After Minh's family agreed to donate his organs to save lives, the Organ Transplant Coordination Center at Viet Duc Hospital proceeded with the surgery. Minh gave four other people a chance at life. Currently, all transplants have been successful, and the recipients are responding well and recovering.

Ms. Thu shared: "Our family donated our child's organs with only one wish for those who receive them: Please cherish and live a truly vibrant life…"

I hope the recipients of my grandchild's organs will write this.

"Keep pursuing your dreams, love, contribute, and enjoy every moment of life."

Perhaps Thu's wish is also the wish of many other families who agree to donate the organs of their brain-dead loved ones. And thanks to this noble act, some lives are being given a new lease on life.

Thanks to organ donation, Thinh was able to go to school.

Having received a heart from a brain-dead donor, the successful heart transplant surgery marked a turning point in the life of 14-year-old Nguyen Huu Truong Thinh from Binh Thuan province .

Thinh was diagnosed with heart disease when he was just 4 months old. His family is not well-off; his father is a teacher and the sole breadwinner . His mother was involved in a traffic accident in 2014 and became paralyzed. For many years, he has had to constantly go in and out of the hospital, undergoing two surgeries to maintain his life.

Luck smiled upon Thinh when he was selected for a heart transplant – his only hope of survival. The successful transplant brought a miraculous rebirth to the resilient teenager.

Having escaped the clutches of death, Thinh's greatest wish was simply to go to school with his peers. The months spent in the hospital bed had made him yearn more than ever to return to school, to study, and to fulfill his unfinished dreams.

Truong Thinh is continuing to write his life story - a story of perseverance, extraordinary willpower, and faith in a bright future.

And Thinh is also continuing to fulfill the unfinished dreams of organ donors, who have brought hope for a longer life to those who were on the verge of death.

The stories of Minh, the giver, and Thinh, the receiver, will continue to be written as the organ donation movement is increasingly embraced and spread within the community.
