In reality, the fuel transition process is always accompanied by a cautious consumer mindset, especially given the long-standing habit of using conventional gasoline (RON 95).

Regularly transporting goods hundreds of kilometers each day, Mr. Ta Anh Tuan (Nam Cuong ward) couldn't help but worry when he heard about the switch to E10 bioethanol fuel. His biggest concerns were the impact on his engine, fuel consumption, and operating costs.
Mr. Tuan said: "I drive constantly, so I just hope this new type of gasoline is stable, doesn't affect the engine, and I can drive long distances with peace of mind."
Mr. Tuan is not alone; many people share the same reservations before using E10 gasoline. While agreeing with the policy of developing clean, environmentally friendly fuels, people still want to be provided with more complete and accurate information about the fuel's quality, engine compatibility, and practical effectiveness to feel confident in switching.
When switching to E10 gasoline for the first time, Mr. Le Hung Dai from Yen Bai ward chose to test it with a small amount to monitor the vehicle's performance. He was concerned not only about the cost but also about the engine's stability during long journeys, especially in hot weather.
"I heard that E10 gasoline is good for the environment, so I support it, but since it's a new fuel, it still needs more time for real-world testing," said Mr. Dai.

In recent days, at many gas stations throughout the province, people have not only come to refuel but also to learn about E10 gasoline.
According to observations at a gas station in Yen Bai ward, belonging to Tu Duc Co., Ltd. (Thanh Ba commune, Phu Tho province), the unit officially switched entirely to selling E10 gasoline from May 21st. Addressing the lingering concerns of some consumers, sales staff have intensified efforts to promote and explain the composition, technical characteristics, and safety of E10 gasoline, helping people feel more confident in its use.
Mr. Dang Ngoc Dinh, Director of Tu Duc Co., Ltd., said: “We organized training for all sales staff before deploying E10 gasoline. This allowed our team at the gas stations to clearly explain the nature of this fuel to customers. Currently, all 17 of the company's gas stations have switched to selling E10 gasoline.”

According to representatives of gas stations, E10 gasoline is currently compatible with most vehicles in circulation. If technical recommendations are followed correctly, its use will not negatively impact the engine and will also provide environmental benefits.
Mr. Hoang Hai Trieu, store manager of Petrol Station No. 16 in Yen Binh commune, said: "E10 gasoline is a fuel that has been researched, applied according to technical standards, and widely used in many countries, so people can rest assured when using it."
According to experts, E10 gasoline is a blend of 90% mineral gasoline and 10% bioethanol, making it more environmentally friendly. Compared to RON95, E10 gasoline has a lower octane rating, resulting in decent performance. However, this fuel offers advantages in terms of environmental impact and cost, often lower than traditional mineral gasoline, contributing to reduced air pollution. Concerns about engine damage, corrosion, or engine hesitation have not yet been scientifically substantiated.
In accordance with Decision 53/2012/QD-TTg dated November 22, 2012, of the Prime Minister on the issuance of a roadmap for applying the blending ratio of biofuels with traditional fuels, E5 bioethanol has been widely sold on the market since 2018. From June 1, 2026, E10 bioethanol will be officially distributed nationwide according to the roadmap of Circular 50/2025.
This transition roadmap aims to achieve sustainable development, ensure energy security, reduce harmful emissions, lessen dependence on fossil fuels, and promote the development of clean energy. Simultaneously, the use of bioethanol contributes to the development of the processing industry and the utilization of domestic agricultural resources.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Lao Cai province, most gas stations in the area are currently selling E10 gasoline and are ready to fully switch from June 1st. To ensure the rights and safety of vehicles, the industry and trade sector advises people to choose to refuel at reputable gas stations that guarantee quality according to regulations. For vehicles that have been used for many years or are rarely used, people should check the fuel system, rubber gaskets, and fuel tank to ensure proper functioning. If any unusual signs are detected, such as difficulty starting, loss of power, or fuel leaks, the vehicle should be taken to a technical facility for timely inspection.
To strictly control the quality of E10 bioethanol fuel when it is released to the market to serve the energy transition roadmap, the Department of Industry and Trade will coordinate with the Department of Science and Technology and other functional forces in the province to monitor the closed-loop process from blending stations, transfer tanks, transport vehicles to pumps at retail gasoline stations; and renovate and clean the distribution infrastructure system because ethanol has high hygroscopic properties.
The Department of Industry and Trade will establish a feedback and technical support channel to receive feedback from consumers in order to build user trust.
A proper understanding of E10 gasoline not only helps consumers feel confident in their choice and use, but also gradually forms new consumption habits that are environmentally friendly. This is a necessary shift, contributing to the goal of reducing emissions, protecting the environment, and aligning with the current trend of sustainable development.
