Recognizing the significance and importance of Project 8 on “Implementing gender equality and addressing urgent issues for women and children” under the National Target Program for socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas giai đoạn 2021-2030 for ethnic minority women and children, the Tan Son District Women's Union has directed women's associations at all levels in the district to implement policy dialogue programs to provide information, knowledge, and connect and support each other's development.
Women members express their opinions at the policy dialogue conference organized by the Lai Dong Commune Women's Union.
Comrade Dinh Thi Thu Hien stated: "One of the initiatives that the Association has implemented early and effectively is organizing policy dialogue conferences between local Party committees, authorities, and women's association members. These conferences, organized at the commune and village cluster levels, have attracted a large number of members and people to participate."
The content of the conferences focused on clarifying the current situation and issues of concern to women, especially women from ethnic minority groups, as well as the implementation of gender equality at the local level in the past period. From there, timely solutions were proposed to overcome difficulties and further promote the role, position, and potential of women in the future.”
In 2024, the District Women's Union organized 5 policy dialogue training sessions based on the policy dialogue handbook in commune clusters for over 400 delegates. They also organized 24 out of 32 policy dialogue sessions, focusing on socio-economic issues, gender equality, and current issues related to women and children in the locality, with the participation of over 2060 officials, members, and women in the communes implementing the Project.
Several programs were organized with themes such as: “Women's participation in economic development and community tourism in Long Coc commune, Tan Son district”; “Promoting gender equality and enhancing the role of women in socio-economic development”; “Credit implementation in the commune”,... There were 66 direct speeches expressing the thoughts, feelings, and aspirations of members and women, focusing mainly on the following groups of issues: The Party committee and government creating conditions for women to promote their role in building new rural areas; local solutions in supporting women's participation in economic development, sustainable poverty reduction, health insurance and social insurance...
The Women's Union of Kiet Son commune organized a policy dialogue conference with the theme: Promoting the role of women in socio-economic development.
The opinions and suggestions of female members were directly received and addressed by the Party Committee, local government, the Fatherland Front Committee, and the Women's Union of the commune, receiving high consensus from the female members. The District Women's Union, in coordination with the District Cultural, Sports, Tourism and Communication Center, organized 8 training courses to guide female leaders and members in residential areas on skills to support community activities (people's meetings, voter outreach by elected representatives, contributing opinions to the political system), with over 800 women and citizens participating.
The project's beneficiaries are women and children in particularly disadvantaged communes and villages, with priority given to ethnic minority women and girls in poor and near-poor households, victims of human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual abuse, unsafe labor migration (returning women married to foreigners), and women with disabilities. To achieve this goal, the District Women's Union has coordinated with the Party Committee, government, and relevant units to develop a project implementation plan, organize training courses, conduct awareness campaigns, and establish models according to the content of Project 8...
Organizing policy dialogue sessions has provided opportunities for women members in the district to express their thoughts and aspirations to the Party committee and government, and to directly hear answers to issues of concern. Through these dialogue programs, the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws have been disseminated to women members. This has fostered consensus among women members, encouraging them to continue playing a role in the socio-economic development of the locality.
