Bringing Vietnamese goods far and wide
This morning, December 27, Ms. Tran Thi Kim Soi - Owner of Soi Handmade business was happy to receive the handover of Vietnamese Point of Sale from the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Nam. The event is part of the program to build Vietnamese Point of Sale with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Ms. Kim Soi is the only entity to benefit from this program in 2024.
“Startups like mine face many difficulties, so the support from the industry and trade sector, such as providing shelves and cash registers, is very timely and effective,” Ms. Soi shared.
Operating since January 2023 at the Tan Thanh fishing village market (Hoi An City), Soi Handmade Point of Sale currently sells more than 100 products of all kinds, including handicrafts, startup products, OCOP products of Quang Nam localities. The majority of buyers are international tourists .
Mr. Nguyen The Hung - Vice Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee acknowledged that, along with the OCOP Program, the support resources from the Department of Industry and Trade have helped Hoi An entities and businesses improve production and business efficiency, creating a very good effect, thereby contributing to spreading the brand of Vietnamese products and goods to consumers, especially domestic and foreign tourists. Helping consumers correctly perceive the production and business capabilities of local businesses as well as the quality of products, goods, services...
Therefore, the handover of the Vietnamese Point of Sale "Proud of Vietnamese Products" in Hoi An City not only demonstrates the efforts of state management agencies, but also the active support of businesses and small traders...
“Hopefully, in the coming time, the Department of Industry and Trade will accompany and support more so that Vietnamese product owners in Hoi An can develop strongly. Particularly, when receiving support and assistance from the state, the owners should maintain and properly implement product regulations. If the establishments do well, the city will be assured, the Department of Industry and Trade will be assured, and the effectiveness of the support will spread more widely,” said Mr. Hung.
Hoi An City is one of the localities with a large number of tourists, so the implementation of Vietnamese sales points here will help promote local products, creating opportunities for Quang Nam products to be widely introduced to the international market.
Proud of Vietnamese products
With the name “Proud of Vietnamese Products”, the project has been implemented in the province since 2018, with quite positive results. Up to now, Quang Nam has supported 5 points of sale in 5 localities including Nam Tra My, Dong Giang, Nui Thanh, Tam Ky and now Hoi An City.
The construction and handover of Vietnamese sales points in Hoi An not only helps bring quality Vietnamese products closer to people and tourists, but also contributes to raising awareness of domestic goods consumption; creating a strong connection between manufacturers and consumers, gradually building a solid "Vietnamese Goods" brand in the hearts of the public.
Mr. Huong Van Minh - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said that since June 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade has conducted an investigation and survey of a number of points of sale in the area to build Vietnamese points of sale. Accordingly, products at Vietnamese points of sale must meet quality standards, ensuring safety and reliability for consumers. In addition to encouraging the use of environmentally friendly packaging and materials, products must have a clear origin, transparent in terms of ingredients, production process and place of production. In addition, the price policy must be reasonable, competitive with imported products...
“In addition to the support of state management agencies, the direct beneficiaries must truly want to sell Vietnamese products, bring Vietnamese products to consumers and tourists, and especially must understand the story of the products made from which to infuse the soul into the products” - Mr. Minh said and hoped that from the success of the Soi Handmade sales point, if supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, this model will continue to be replicated more widely because it is very practical and brings comprehensive benefits.
In particular, the “Proud of Vietnamese Products” point of sale can become an interesting destination for tourists when coming to Quang Nam. Creating favorable conditions for customers to shop for specialty products, handicrafts, traditional goods and craft villages... contributing to increasing budget revenue, promoting investment in commercial infrastructure, helping other business activities develop; aiming to promote Quang Nam's typical cultural products such as handicrafts; preserving and developing local traditional crafts; arousing national pride, promoting domestic production, and developing sustainable economy.
“Over many years of implementation, the campaign has achieved very encouraging results, motivating Quang Nam enterprises to continuously improve product quality, expand the domestic market and build trust with consumers,” Mr. Minh added.
