On the afternoon of May 8, the Vesak delegation departed from the Vietnam Buddhist Academy (Ho Chi Minh City) to Ba Den Mountain ( Tay Ninh province) to perform the Buddha's relic procession and attend a series of solemn ceremonies within the framework of the United Nations Vesak Festival - Vesak 2025.
The delegation includes more than 1,200 international delegates from more than 80 countries such as India, Bhutan, China, France, Germany, Nepal, Japan, Sri Lanka, UK, USA, Thailand... along with more than 800 domestic delegates from the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Tay Ninh province and provincial and sector leaders.

The Supreme Patriarchs, Supreme Patriarchs, Presidents, leaders of the Sangha Churches, Buddhist organizations; the International Organizing Committee for the United Nations Day of Vesak (ICDV), world Buddhist organizations; Buddhist sects and traditions from 85 countries and territories; dignitaries of the Council of Patriarchs, the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha attended the ceremony.
In the early afternoon, the Buddha's relics were solemnly carried to Ba Den Mountain by senior monks of the Indian Buddhist Sangha, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, international Buddhist delegations, and leaders of Tay Ninh province and Ba Den Mountain National Tourist Area.
At the highest mountain in the Southeast, Buddha's relics are enshrined at the Buddhist Exhibition Center from May 8 to 13 for Buddhists and the public to worship, pay homage to the world's Buddhist treasures and receive the Buddha's grace.
This afternoon, the event continued with the planting ceremony of 108 Bodhi trees held at the Bodhi Garden World on top of Ba Den Mountain by eminent monks and leaders of Buddhist delegations from 80 countries around the world.
After the Bodhi tree planting ceremony, more than 2,000 Vesak delegates attended the candle lighting ceremony to pray for world peace at Tay Bo Da Son Square, where eminent monks and religious dignitaries from around the world lit candles symbolizing the light of wisdom and compassion and prayed for a peaceful and happy world.
Speaking at the event, Acting Chairman of Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Thanh emphasized that Ba Den Mountain is the highest mountain in the Southeast region (986m high) - with the legend of Linh Son Thanh Mau, has long been a pilgrimage and worship destination for millions of Buddhists and tourists every year. The practical activities at Ba Den Mountain today demonstrate the Buddhists' respect for Buddha, contributing to spreading the message of compassion, solidarity, love and the desire for peace and happiness for humanity.
Along with the candlelight prayer ceremony for peace, the series of special spiritual events within the framework of the 2025 Vesak Festival in Vietnam and Ba Den Mountain are considered an important cultural diplomatic ritual. The event makes Ba Den Mountain a pilgrimage destination for the world and contributes to spreading the image of the country and people of Vietnam as a peace-loving country.
