On the evening of October 4, Man Utd won a valuable 2-0 victory over Sunderland thanks to goals from Mason Mount and Benjamin Sesko. This victory helped the Red Devils reduce some of the pressure after the weak defeat against Brentford.
After the match, Mount affirmed that the whole team "100% stands with the coach", but Amorim said that words are not enough, he wants his students to show that with fighting spirit on the field.

“We have to show it with action,” said the Portuguese tactician. “I know they want to do their best and they don’t want to have to change coaches all the time. But as I said this week, if they want to stand by the coach, it means they have to fight to the end, ready to give their all in every transition.”
Coach Amorim admitted the team still has a lot of work to do after the victory over Sunderland: "When we look back, we all know we can do better. That needs to be shown not only at Old Trafford, but also away from home."
After the international break, Amorim's men will have a tough trip to Liverpool's Anfield, where he has yet to win two consecutive Premier League games since taking charge.
Coach Amorim admitted: “We are not yet stable. The problem is that after each victory, we cannot maintain the same fighting spirit when traveling to away matches. That is really annoying and I hope the team will carry this form further.”
Another bright spot for Man Utd in this match was the impressive debut of young goalkeeper Senne Lammens. The Belgian goalkeeper kept a clean sheet in his first match for the team.
However, coach Amorim quickly warned his new student not to be complacent: "This is just one match. He needs to continue to work hard, because at this club, things are never easy, but I am satisfied. He played calmly, confidently and received great support from his teammates."

Mason Mount, who opened the scoring in the match, also stressed that this victory was just the beginning of Man Utd's comeback journey: “After the win against Chelsea, we thought it was a turning point, but then the defeat against Brentford made everything collapse.
This time we have to really build from here. We will work hard over the break, aiming for two, then three wins in a row to get close to the Champions League places.”
And Benjamin Sesko, a £73.7m signing, scored his second consecutive goal and celebrated at Old Trafford for the first time, unable to hide his emotions: “The atmosphere after the goal was unbelievable. I have dreamed of this moment for a long time, to score and celebrate in front of the Old Trafford stands. My dream has come true.”
