Coach Kim Sang Sik is looking for talented overseas Vietnamese players for the national team.

Head coach of Vietnam U23 Kim Sang Sik affirmed that he will test Tran Thanh Trung's ability during the training session to prepare for the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers. At the same time, he and VFF will continue to search for good overseas Vietnamese players for the national team.

On the afternoon of August 26, Coach Kim Sang Sik attended the signing ceremony and announced the sponsor for U23 Vietnam in the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers. Accordingly, LPBank will accompany the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and U23 Vietnam in hosting and competing in Group C of the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho).

Speaking to the press at the ceremony, head coach Kim Sang Sik said that U23 Vietnam will continue to promote the determination and confidence from the recent 2025 U23 Southeast Asian Championship to complete the goal of passing the Asian qualifiers.

When asked about the list of players and new Vietnamese-American player Tran Thanh Trung, coach Kim Sang Sik said this was an opportunity for him to experiment and find a suitable position for the player born in 2005. He also thanked Mr. Thuy for showing great influence in helping Ninh Binh Club bring in potential players for Vietnamese football.

"Before announcing the list of U23 Vietnam players, the coaching staff and I carefully researched the players playing abroad, including Tran Thanh Trung. I have included his name and will use the next training session to test, analyze and research this player," said Mr. Kim Sang Sik.

After Viktor Le, Tran Thanh Trung continues to be expected to bring a new breeze to U23 Vietnam on the journey to reach the continent. This overseas Vietnamese player has just returned to the country for 1 month, and was immediately given the opportunity by Ninh Binh Club to play in 2 consecutive matches in the first 2 rounds of V-League 2025 - 2026.

Mr. Kim said that he will continue to monitor and search for overseas Vietnamese players playing abroad to supplement the national teams.

After round 3 of V-League (ending on August 30), U23 Vietnam will gather and have only 4 days at most to prepare for the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers.

In the qualifying round, U23 Vietnam is the host of Group C, will meet U23 Bangladesh, U23 Singapore and U23 Yemen on September 3, 6 and 9 at Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho ). The goal of coach Kim and his team is to win the top spot in this group to get a ticket to the final round of U23 Asia 2026.

VFF launches book 25 years of Vietnam Professional Football Journey

Also on the afternoon of August 26, VFF held a book launch ceremony 25 years of Vietnam Professional Football Journey after more than 1 year of implementation.

The book is an elaborate record of the journey of building and developing Vietnamese football, reflecting the intelligence and collective efforts throughout more than two decades of operation of the country's professional football.

Mr. Tran Anh Tu, Vice President of VFF, shared: "The Vietnam Football Federation hopes that the book will be an inspiration for today's and future generations, so that players, coaches, managers, and fans are aware of their roles and missions in the common development journey."
