In this match, coach Kim Sang-sik fielded his strongest lineup. The team took the lead through Tien Linh in the 9th minute but then let the opponent equalize 1-1.

Laken Limbu's red card in the 45+2 minute helped the Vietnamese team play with one more player in the second half to score two more goals thanks to Xuan Manh and Van Vi.

Young wind and the two-legged "test" with Nepal
“I think Nepal played quite well, especially in terms of physical strength. They caused a lot of trouble for the Vietnamese team,” coach Kim Sang-sik shared in the post-match press conference.
The Korean coach said that although the team created many opportunities and could have scored more goals, he was still satisfied with the results achieved.
“Although the number of shots was high and more goals should have been scored, three goals is still a success. If the finishing is more careful, more goals will be scored,” said Mr. Kim.
Regarding the use of personnel on the offensive line, coach Kim Sang-sik said he made appropriate adjustments according to the development of the match.
“We played safely in the first half. In the second half, when the opponent's physical strength decreased, we took advantage of the players with an attacking tendency to create breakthroughs. Tactically, the whole team performed well and achieved the desired results,” added the strategist born in 1976.

Referring to the race for tickets to the 2027 Asian Cup finals, coach Kim Sang-sik emphasized: “Malaysia also won today, so we are in second place. The whole team will try their best in the remaining three matches. What we need to do now is focus on winning, not thinking too much about our competitors.”
The 3-1 victory helped the Vietnamese team consolidate second place in Group F with 6 points, continuing to chase Malaysia's top spot and opening up many hopes in the race for a ticket to the 2027 Asian Cup finals.
The second leg match between Vietnam and Nepal will take place at 7:30 p.m. on October 14 at Thong Nhat Stadium (HCMC).
