Thuc Phan Ward, Cao Bang Province is one of the areas seriously affected by storm No. 11 with over 5,000 households affected, of which more than 800 households suffered heavy property damage. After the water receded, it left behind a huge amount of mud on the main streets, along with a large amount of floating waste, damaged structures and objects...

Local authorities are mobilizing excavators and bulldozers to handle mud after the flood.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of Thuc Phan Ward People's Committee, said that the locality is mobilizing the entire political system, forces and people to focus on cleaning up the environment after the flood: "Currently, we are focusing on cleaning up the main streets, school areas, and traditional market areas to ensure that people can soon stabilize their lives, ensure a clean environment, and meet the requirements of disease prevention in the area. The volume of mud is very large and thick, and excavators cannot be used to remove it. Currently, we are using a wheel loader to push and remove it onto a truck to release this amount of mud, or pile it up. CDC Cao Bang is also spraying disinfectants on main roads and public areas, and at the same time giving medicine to people to proactively use disinfection methods to minimize the impact on people's health."

To limit the risk of epidemics after floods, the Cao Bang Provincial Center for Disease Control has taken environmental treatment measures and instructed people to treat water sources according to the standards of the Ministry of Health ; monitored and supported health stations and health centers to implement environmental sanitation measures, disease prevention and control; ensured supplies, chemicals, biological products, human resources and advised the authorities to direct local units to coordinate and immediately implement environmental sanitation activities after floods, following the motto "where the water recedes, clean the environment there".

After floods, the environment is often seriously polluted by garbage and animal carcasses floating for many days... posing a risk of disease outbreak and spread, especially acute diarrhea, respiratory diseases, eye diseases, skin diseases, dengue fever... Along with the efforts of the health sector and local authorities, people need to proactively protect their health, maintain environmental hygiene, and treat water sources and sanitation facilities according to instructions.
