On September 3, the 12th General Assembly of the Tourism Promotion Organization for Global Cities (TPO) took place in Ho Chi Minh City. For the first time in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City was honored to host the TPO General Assembly within the framework of the Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair (ITE HCMC).

Hosting the TPO General Assembly is a "killing two birds with one stone" strategy, both enhancing international status and creating momentum for economic development, tourism and innovation.

With the theme “Shaping the future of tourism: Towards digital transformation and green transformation”, the event is an important forum for members to discuss two inevitable trends of modern tourism: digital transformation and sustainable development.

Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc emphasized: "As one of the founding cities and the only city in Vietnam to hold the role of a member of the TPO Executive Board, over the past two decades, Ho Chi Minh City has always been proud to actively contribute to the organization's activities, constantly promoting connections and cooperation in tourism development among members. At the same time, affirming its central role in tourism development in the region."

According to Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc, hosting the TPO General Assembly this time is an important milestone, clearly demonstrating Ho Chi Minh City's responsibility and commitment in promoting regional tourism to develop synchronously, creatively and sustainably.

The TPO 2025 General Assembly is an important agenda for the tourism industry as it faces major challenges such as climate change, the need to personalize the tourist experience and the explosion of technology and artificial intelligence.

Digital transformation and green transformation are not only trends but also vital factors for the sustainable development of tourism. Digital transformation helps improve management, improve tourist experience and expand markets; while green transformation reduces environmental impact, protects resources and cultural identity. These are two strategic pillars that shape the structure, identity and development direction of the industry, in line with the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations.

In addition, seminars, high-level forums and bilateral conferences will focus on digital technology application solutions and sustainable tourism development, helping Ho Chi Minh City update trends and build appropriate tourism strategies.
