The wooden painting "Vinh quy bai to" was presented by the City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi . The event is not only a meaningful cultural activity to celebrate the traditional day of the Capital, but also contributes to honoring the spirit of studiousness and respect for teachers of the Vietnamese people.
The painting is located at the Front Hall, Thai Hoc. This is a unique work of scale, achieving two Vietnamese records: The largest hand-carved Vinh quy bai to painting on a single block of wood in Vietnam and the Vinh quy bai to wooden painting with the largest number of people in Vietnam, marking the creative effort and aspiration to honor the tradition of studiousness of the Vietnamese people.

The work "Vinh quy bai to" is made from rare Cam wood, with dimensions of 8m33 long, 1m70 wide, 16cm thick. The painting vividly depicts the journey of the imperial examination - from childhood studying with the Teacher, to the Luu Chong to take the Huong exam, then to the capital to take the Hoi exam, the Dinh exam, to have his name on the Golden Board and to be granted the King's Grace to return to the village during the Vinh quy ceremony.

The composition of the painting follows the artistic principle of "Dynamic Qi", making the procession resemble a winding Dragon - a symbol associated with the name Thang Long - Hanoi. The landscape and characters are elaborately depicted based on the novel Leu Chong by writer Ngo Tat To, with the appearance of all ancient social classes: Scholar, Farmer, Worker, Merchant - Fisherman, Woodcutter, Farmer, Shepherd. In particular, the images of Ngo Mon, Thai Hoa Palace, Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam, Khue Van Cac, village gate, banyan tree, well, communal house yard... blend in the bustling festival atmosphere, creating a vivid wooden epic.

Not only is it an honor for the successful individual, the Vinh Quy Bai To Ceremony is also a symbol of Vietnamese morality: Respecting teachers; Piety; Village solidarity; aspiration to serve the country; Honoring learning; Encouraging talents to contribute their strength to the nation... In folklore, the image of "Vinh Quy Bai To" is also considered a shining example to honor learning and cherish learners.
Sharing about the meaning of the work, artisan Bui Trong Lang said: "This is the clearest and most passionate voice for our lifelong aspiration: through wood paintings, to convey and honor the country's culture, marking the immortal quintessential values in the flow of national history."

Placing the wooden painting "Vinh quy bai to" at Thai Hoc House, Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam has a particularly profound meaning. This is the most important educational and cultural space of Thang Long - Hanoi, a place to honor talents, promote learning and preserve the tradition of Vietnamese Confucianism. The work has become a highlight in the space of the Front Hall of Thai Hoc House, helping the public - especially the younger generation - better understand the ethics of learning, respecting teachers and the aspiration to serve the country.
