On the evening of August 28 at Thong Nhat Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City Police Club won 1-0 against Hoang Anh Gia Lai , in the third round of V.League 2025/2026. The only goal of the match was scored by Endrick in the 42nd minute.
One of the highlights of the match was a series of situations where CA TP.HCM's main striker Nguyen Tien Linh missed opportunities or slowed down the team's attack, causing many spectators at Thong Nhat Stadium to express their disappointment.
At the post-match press conference, head coach Le Huynh Duc expressed his sympathy for his student. Because the match took place in persistent rainy weather, it was not really favorable for ball control and unintentionally put Tien Linh under psychological pressure when leading the attack.
“That’s football, players can’t always play well. Especially when put in the context of weather conditions, the field and Linh has only been on the team for 2 weeks. I will try to help the players have better form and feeling of playing,” said Mr. Duc.
Overall assessment of the performance of CA TP.HCM after 3 rounds of V.League, Mr. Duc frankly said that the whole team was over-praised after the victory on the opening day. The following two matches revealed that what needed to be improved was physical strength and a more cohesive playing style.
“We didn’t have much time to prepare before the season. I think the players have tried very hard and I don’t ask for anything more. The whole team is doing better every day, like this match, they played well and I’m satisfied,” said coach Le Huynh Duc.
On the HAGL Club side, Head Coach Le Quang Trai regretted not being able to get a draw despite playing better in the second half. Mr. Trai also affirmed that the mountain town team is building a collective playing style and needs more time to play better.
