On the morning of August 30, at the beginning of the parade rehearsal to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day, the Vietnam People's Air Force's fighter jets and helicopters flew in formation over Ba Dinh Square. The most impressive of these was the Su-30MK2 squadron dropping heat traps.
Upon arriving at Ba Dinh Square, a squadron of five Su-30MK2 fighters performed many acrobatics, then dropped heat traps in the sky.

The thermal decoy is part of an active defense system designed to protect aircraft against anti-aircraft missiles using infrared homing. This design is mounted on the tail of the Su-30MK2 fighter.
