Haven-1: The world's first private space station

Vast Space is preparing to launch Haven-1 – the first private space station – in spring 2026. It is a compact single module, designed to serve short 10-day flights with four astronauts at a time.

Haven-1 has an area of about 45 cubic meters, equivalent to a tour bus. Inside there are four small sleeping compartments, a dining area and space for scientific experiments. The life support system uses technology from the space shuttle era, according to an “open circuit” design.

Haven-1's main body has been welded and painted. Technicians are now installing doors and a 1.1-meter-wide dome window. The 14-ton module will then undergo vibration and vacuum testing at NASA's Glenn Research Center in early 2026.

NASA is helping test key systems, including the air filter. SpaceX will take over the launch of Haven-1 on a Falcon 9 rocket, scheduled for spring 2026.

Nvidia produces Blackwell chips in the US for the first time

Nvidia has marked a major milestone by announcing the first wafer of its Blackwell chip line to be manufactured in the U.S. The wafer – the foundation for AI chips – was assembled at TSMC’s factory in Phoenix, Arizona.

Nvidia introduced the Blackwell platform last year, aiming to revolutionize the AI industry. Big players like Amazon, Google, and OpenAI have already committed to using the new architecture. According to Nvidia, Blackwell is much more powerful than the previous generation, while reducing costs and power consumption by up to 25 times.

Manufacturing chips in the US helps Nvidia reduce risks from geopolitical fluctuations and tariffs. CEO Jensen Huang emphasized: "This is the first time in recent history that the most important chip is manufactured right in the US by TSMC's most advanced factory."

Nvidia is preparing to enter mass production of the Blackwell architecture. The company previously announced plans to invest up to $500 billion to build AI infrastructure in the US, working with partners such as TSMC and Foxconn.

Google Maps is testing a new way of navigating

Google is testing a new way for users to add stops like gas stations, restaurants, or rest stops while using Google Maps for navigation. Instead of showing them directly on the map, the app will display a list at the bottom of the screen. Users can pull up the list to see their options, along with round-trip times and a quick-call button.

The list of stops will have filters like “Open”, “Near Me”, “Midway” and “Near Destination” to help users select faster. This is new compared to the old display.

Google Maps is also testing a similar interface in the car. However, some sites still show locations directly on the map, making it easier for users to see.

Additionally, Google Maps is testing a new “Home” button below the search bar that will display your home time and traffic conditions in color, making it easier to follow.
