Implementing the direction of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) assigned the News Agency Publishing House to compile, publish and introduce to readers a Vietnamese-English bilingual photo book titled "A80: Fatherland in the heart."
With nearly 230 carefully selected photos, mainly from the precious archives of VNA, the Navy, the National History Museum, the Armored Vehicle Museum and a number of photographers, the book recreates unique images and deep impressions of military parades and marches through historical periods, from the August Revolution and National Day September 2, 1945 to the parades on January 1, 1955, May 1, 1973, September 2, 1975 and September 2, 1985.
In particular, the book focuses on the celebration, parade, and march on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2, held at the historic Ba Dinh Square on a grand scale, imbued with the spirit of the times, affirming Vietnam's position in the international arena and the aspiration to develop the country in the new era.
With meticulous investment in content and form, 23x25cm format, 224 pages thick, printed in 4 colors, solemn and modern, the book is a visual symphony expressing patriotism, national pride, the spirit of great solidarity, arousing and honoring the heroic historical traditions of the Vietnamese people through the ages.
The book consists of three parts. Part I: “Historical milestones” takes readers back to the country’s iconic parades in 1955, 1973, 1975, and 1985, associated with the nation’s great victories.
1955 was the first year after the Geneva Agreement was signed (July 1954), demonstrating the desire for independence affirmed by the power of autonomy; 1973 was the time after the Paris Agreement was signed (January 1973), marking the prelude to the journey of national unification; 1975 was the parade celebrating the victory of liberating the South and unifying the country, blending with the triumphant joy of the history of peace ; 1985 celebrated the 40th anniversary of National Day September 2, a milestone of the country's transformation before the threshold of renovation. Part II is the central and most prominent content of the book, recreating the celebration, parade, and march to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) with many beautiful images, organized on a large scale, elaborately, modernly, imbued with national identity.
The images show the participation of Party and State leaders in a solemn, emotional, and proud atmosphere; the majestic parades of the Vietnam People's Army and the Vietnam People's Public Security; formations of aircraft performing in the air, submarines and surface ships performing at sea; blocks of military vehicles, vehicles of the People's Public Security force and masses.
Each photo is a film that fully preserves memorable, emotional historical moments to honor the bravery, spirit and stature of the Vietnamese people over the past 80 years.
Part III "Impressions of Vietnam" concludes the book with images showing the attention of Party and State leaders to the forces participating in the Celebration, parade, and march; the training process of the forces without fear of hardship; images of Hanoi streets filled with flags and flowers during the great celebration; the emotions of the people in the country and international friends towards this important event; and national music and concert programs to celebrate the great celebration.
The book is co-produced by the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) and Vietnam Railways Corporation, contributing to the preservation and dissemination of national cultural and historical values in the new era. The photo book “A80: Fatherland in the Heart” is distributed nationwide through the distribution system of the News Publishing House./.
