Just over 30km from the center of Hanoi, Quang Phu Cau incense village is like a 'living museum' of traditional Vietnamese craft villages. This place not only preserves more than a century of handmade incense making, but also becomes a unique cultural tourist destination, attracting a large number of international visitors.
As soon as they arrive, visitors are immediately captivated by the impressive colorful picture. Incense bundles are arranged in endless circles, in strips of motifs simulating the map of Vietnam, the national flag… creating a lively scene, imbued with national identity.
The traditional red color blends with the rustic yellow, brown, and green of bamboo and incense sticks, all creating a brilliant 'sea of color' in the middle of the Northern countryside.
The village has about 3,000 households practicing the craft, all of which maintain the traditional methods passed down through generations. From spinning the sticks, dyeing the incense sticks, drying them in the sun, to mixing the incense powder – each step requires meticulousness and patience./.
