The economic efficiency of lychee is clearly shown when the planting area increases rapidly over the years, many households that previously only planted a few sao have now expanded to several hectares.
The special thing is that this rice variety is only grown once a year, harvested around the 10th lunar month, so in recent years, local people have made full use of the crop area to grow sticky rice, gradually forming a specialized growing area.
Mr. Trinh Kim Thuy, Chairman of Hop Thanh Commune People's Committee, said: This year, people in the commune planted 280 hectares of lychee sticky rice, a number that shows a clear shift in the crop structure. From being grown only for food, lychee sticky rice has now become the main crop in the commune's agricultural production. According to estimates, the average yield is 1.5 quintals/sao, equivalent to a stable and quite high income compared to traditional sticky rice varieties. Thanks to the outstanding quality of rice, round, fragrant, and sticky grains, Hop Thanh lychee sticky rice is always the choice of many traders and consumers, especially at the end of the year and during the Lunar New Year. The selling price is stable at a high level, helping people have a better income than growing other rice varieties.
Realizing the growing demand of customers, Hop Thanh Lychee Sticky Rice Agricultural Cooperative was established. Along with production, the Cooperative is also a bridge to purchase and consume products for people. Up to now, the Cooperative has processed many products from Lychee Sticky Rice, such as: Green rice, five-color sticky rice, burnt rice, etc.
Ms. Nguyen Xuan Hue , Deputy Director of the Cooperative, said: All products here have traceability stamps, creating peace of mind for customers. At the same time, the Cooperative also actively promotes local products by participating in fairs and exhibitions in and outside the province, creating promotional channels on social networking platforms such as Zalo, Facebook...
The products of the Cooperative are not only consumed in the province but also have distributors in some provinces and cities, such as Bac Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City... Currently, the Cooperative is also completing the dossier to make Hop Thanh sticky rice product an OCOP product of the province to increase the value of the product.

Not only preserving native rice varieties, Hop Thanh commune is aiming to build a brand associated with agricultural tourism, bringing the image of golden ripe sticky rice fields, traditional product harvesting and processing processes to become highlights attracting tourists to experience the pure agricultural countryside of Hop Thanh.
The commune's goal is to build a sustainable value chain: From preserving varieties, expanding growing areas, applying new farming techniques, to deep processing such as making banh chung, sticky rice wine, and OCOP gifts.
Every rice harvest season, Hop Thanh people are as happy as if they were holding a festival. People go to the fields to harvest and transport rice, then together make green rice, sticky rice, and cakes, offering their hometown specialties to the altar, to thank heaven and earth for favorable rain and wind, good rice plants, and a bountiful harvest.
These days, throughout the Hop Thanh countryside, the fragrant aroma of sticky rice permeates every corner and into every home. For every local, this is not only the harvest season but also the season of faith, of the continuation of the precious rice variety that has been preserved for generations...
