Investing in synchronous energy infrastructure to ensure sustainable development

After merging administrative units, along with expanding the space for socio-economic development, Thai Nguyen province has paid special attention to planning and investing in completing the energy infrastructure system, one of the key pillars to ensure the development of industry, services and people's lives. Up to now, the power source network and grid in the province have been consolidated and expanded in a modern, synchronous and sustainable direction.

Thai Nguyen's modern and synchronous power grid system ensures stable power supply.

Currently, Thai Nguyen province's electricity load is supplied by 2 thermal power plants with a total installed capacity of 230MW, 7 hydropower plants with a capacity of 24.6MW, and is directly connected to the Northern power system and part of the electricity is purchased from China.

Regarding the power grid system, Thai Nguyen currently has 2 500kV lines with a length of more than 17km; 5 transformer stations and 11 220kV lines with a total length of 330km; and 21 110kV transformer stations with a total installed capacity of more than 2,400MVA. This system is closely linked with neighboring areas, ensuring high safety and reliability in operation.

In 2025, the province is implementing 28 power grid and power source projects, of which 4 projects have been completed, 12 projects are under construction on schedule, and 12 other projects are having difficulties related to site clearance, land procedures and planning resolved. In addition, many renewable energy projects are being studied for investment such as Thai Nguyen Waste-to-Energy Plant, Thien Long Cho Moi Wind Power Plant, Nui Coc Lake Floating Solar Power Plant and Nam Cat Hydropower Plant.

Synchronous investment in energy infrastructure not only contributes to ensuring electricity security, but also creates an important driving force for industrial development, promotes economic restructuring and improves the quality of life of people in the province after the merger.
