On the evening of November 23, the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam; the Hanoi Watercolor Artists Club and the art space May Van Thang held an award ceremony and opened the exhibition of works from the "Echoes of History" contest in 2025.
After 6 months of launching, the Contest received nearly 269 paintings with diverse materials, from oil paint, silk, wood carving, iron pen to acrylic and watercolor... sent by students of art and design schools nationwide, along with young artists and art lovers aged 18 to 30.

The entries show a diversity of perspectives, stories, ideas and expressive materials. Architectural images such as the Temple of Literature Gate, Khue Van Cac, Doctoral Stele House, and typical motifs such as sword heads, dragons, phoenixes, turtles, etc. are vividly exploited. Through this, viewers can feel the flow of history and culture recreated from the youthful and creative perspective of today's generation.
The jury, consisting of 11 members who are prestigious experts in the fields of culture, fine arts, architecture, sculpture, etc., conducted two rounds of serious and impartial judging to ensure objectivity and fairness. As a result, 80 works were selected for the final round and 18 best works were awarded, including: 3 Second Prizes; 3 Third Prizes; 10 Encouragement Prizes; 1 Sponsor Prize: Artspace Vast Clouds Prize; 1 Sponsor Prize: HWA Club Prize.

Commenting on the works participating in this year's competition, Master. Painter Nguyen The Son, lecturer at the School of Interdisciplinary Sciences and Arts, Hanoi National University - Head of the Jury, said: "As a judge at the 2025 'Historical Echoes' Painting Competition, I am particularly impressed with the works using traditional materials such as lacquer, watercolor, silk, etc., which are creatively expressed, rich in both content and form. In addition, there are also outstanding works on paper, silk, and even art pens in the style of painting. Overall, the second year's works are excellent."

The 2025 “Historical Echoes” Painting Contest is a healthy “playground” where young people can create, compete and express their personal feelings and opinions through paintings about architectural works, artifacts, statues, etc. at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam.
The exhibition of the final works is on display at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam from now until December 7, introducing the public to admire the colors of history and listen to the "echoes" of heritage through youthful and creative brushstrokes.
