On the evening of November 21, the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts opened the special exhibition Return , introducing 42 rare works of art donated by Mr. and Mrs. Le Tat Luyen - Thuy Khue in 2025.

This collection not only has special artistic value, but also contains the long journey of Vietnamese cultural memory. Many works were kept in France for decades before returning to the domestic public. The return is therefore not only an exhibition, but also a reunion between the artistic heritage and the hearts that persistently preserve Vietnamese values in the international cultural space.

In the same exhibition space, 42 works open up a multi-layered dialogue between 20th-century Vietnamese art trends.

The quintessence of Indochina fine arts, with representative artists such as Le Pho (Sea Anemone) , Vu Cao Dam (Green Dawn, Northern Women with Bare Hair) , Thai Tuan (Miss Tam) , Bui Xuan Phai (Sea, Tuong Doi) , Ta Ty (Fisherman's Village) , Tran Phuc Duyen (Teacher's Pagoda), Pham Tang (Thien Thai), Pham Dinh Tin (Ede Mother, Ede Girl)...

Next to that is the space displaying works by artist Le Ba Dang, a series of works and documents including: Fire in a corner of the sky, Empty room in a rainy night, Uprising of slaves, Night of fireballs, Black Tet ...

The exhibition is an opportunity for the public to have a comprehensive look at the Vietnamese fine art picture of the 20th century - a period when many creative trends intersected and complemented each other, creating a multidimensional and rich picture.

Each work is both an independent artistic value and a harmonious combination, creating an overall picture of the history, transformation and diversity of Vietnamese fine arts, from Indochina tradition to Gia Dinh modernization and Le Ba Dang's symbolic protest art.

Thematic exhibition Returning at Floor 2 - Building 2, Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts, from now until January 4, 2026.
