Spreading the "Zero-Cost Booth" model

The "Zero-Cost Booth" model is currently being widely implemented by Youth Union branches throughout the province, aiming to connect generous donors with those in difficult circumstances. This contributes to spreading the spirit of sharing within the community.

Those in need should receive it.

During their recent "Joining Hands for the Poor" campaign, the Youth Union of the Provincial People's Committee visited Kim Van village (Van Lang commune) and donated a "Zero-Cost Shop" to the local people. The "Zero-Cost Shop" in Kim Van village was established with donations totaling over 50 million VND from more than 3,000 Youth Union members, including warm blankets, life jackets, rice, milk, household items, books, and children's clothing. The model is implemented with the motto "Giving items to the right people" and "Giving what the people truly need."

Immediately after the "Zero-Cost Booth" model was launched, we had the opportunity to talk with Bui Nhat Ha, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Provincial People's Committee, who directly initiated the program, about the meaning and impact of this activity.

Mr. Bui Nhat Ha shared: Following the success of the Provincial People's Committee Youth Union Congress, we launched a campaign for grassroots Youth Union organizations to participate in building "Zero-Cost Stalls". This model not only aims to provide essential goods for people in difficult circumstances, but also conveys a message of empathy, solidarity, and social responsibility, contributing to spreading humanitarian values and building a warm and close-knit community.

Previously, the Youth Union of Phan Dinh Phung ward, Tan Long ward, and Bang Thanh commune also implemented a "Zero-Cost Stall" with a total value of nearly 2 billion VND. This is a highlight in social welfare activities, attracting the attention and support of the community. More than just a place to donate free necessities, the stall is also a symbol of the compassion, sharing, and responsibility of young people towards the community.

What makes this stall so special is not just that it's "free," but the message it wants to convey: those in need receive, and those who can contribute help. Thanks to this, the model operates sustainably, with a continuous flow of love being replenished.

Creative approaches

"Zero-Cost Booth" by Youth Union members and young people of Phan Dinh Phung ward.

From a few initial stalls, the model quickly spread to many youth organizations, agencies, businesses, and residential areas. In each place, the "Zero-Cost Stall" was creatively adapted in its own way: some organized mobile stalls in remote areas, some combined it with weekend markets, and some integrated it into winter-spring volunteer activities.

For example, the "Zero-Cost Booth" in Bang Thanh commune is located at the Citizen Identity Card issuance site, within the Bang Thanh Commune Police headquarters. Through this booth, children and residents not only come to get their documents processed but also get to visit, experience, and receive gifts from the "Zero-Cost Booth" filled with love.

This widespread impact demonstrates the strength of the Youth Union movement: starting with small actions that can create a big effect. The "Zero-Cost Booth" helps recipients feel a sense of sharing without shame, and gives givers joy in contributing to the community. It also serves as a vibrant educational environment, helping young people cultivate compassion and focus on lasting values rather than mere material possessions.

A representative from the Thai Nguyen Provincial Youth Union stated: In the coming time, Youth Union branches at various agencies and units will continue to aim to expand the model, diversify products, connect with more social resources, and build stalls in a civilized, friendly, and accessible manner. Through this, the movement will not only provide support but also foster a culture of sharing within the community.
