Recently, several social media groups have been circulating an article with the headline: "A stadium capable of holding 30,000 people has been abandoned for over 20 years in Thai Nguyen ." This was accompanied by accusatory comments about the waste, the state of neglect, and even speculation about the future use of the land.
At first glance, many people are easily swayed by the emotional impact of an article cited from a news agency. However, it's worth noting that the article was published in October 2025, a time when the Thai Nguyen Steel and Iron Stadium had not yet been renovated or upgraded. This means the reflection accurately describes a period in the past, not the current situation.
However, by deliberately creating a sensational post, ignoring the entire subsequent renovation and upgrading process to give the impression that the project is "still abandoned," the information has been distorted.
From November 2025, Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Joint Stock Company (the stadium management unit) has coordinated with the local authorities to renovate and repair many items of the stadium such as upgrading the playing surface, grandstand area, lighting system, running track and infrastructure serving sports and community activities.
To date, the stadium has reopened, becoming a venue for major local cultural and sporting events; it is also a familiar community space for residents of Tich Luong ward and surrounding areas.
Mr. Vu Thuong Thu, Chairman of the Trade Union of Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Joint Stock Company, said that in addition to coordinating the organization of large-scale sports competitions and cultural programs, the company also regularly organizes sports and welfare activities for its employees. The roads around the stadium are now also open to serve people walking and cycling daily.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tich Luong Ward, shared: "During the period from February to the commemoration of April 30th and May 1st, Tich Luong Ward coordinated with the Steel and Iron Joint Stock Company and relevant agencies and units to organize many art programs celebrating the Party and the Spring Festival, as well as the Olympic program for the health of the People's Police."
Organizing events at the Thai Nguyen Steel Plant Stadium, a cultural institution that has been associated with generations of steel plant workers and local people, has attracted tens of thousands of people to watch and cheer.
Speaking with us, Ms. Ha Thi Van, from Trung Thanh 13 residential group, Tich Luong ward, excitedly shared: "I have lived in this area for over 40 years, now over 60 years old, and have witnessed many changes in the Gang Thep roundabout area, where the stadium is located, a place connected to my memories. Last Tet, we witnessed the stadium reopening through various artistic programs."
The enthusiasm of the people and the lively atmosphere at this cultural institution are the clearest evidence of a reality that contradicts what some social media accounts are distorting.

The current battle in cyberspace is not only a fight against completely fabricated information, but also a fight against information that is "properly presented but ill-timed," or information that is "half-true."
An old article or image, if deliberately brought into a current context without specifying the time period, can easily create a distorted perception in public opinion. This is a familiar tactic of some opportunistic accounts on social media: using past data to negate the present, exacerbating old shortcomings and deliberately ignoring new developments, creating a sense of skepticism and denying the efforts of the unit or locality to improve and develop.
In the face of a confusing mix of true and false information, every citizen needs to be vigilant and establish a "digital immune system" based on fundamental principles: Check the timeline of the original article and compare online information with the real-life events happening around them before typing comments or sharing the article.
The Thai Nguyen Steel Plantation Stadium today is no longer the desolate image that some groups have deliberately portrayed. The facility is now lit up, operational, and serving the community. This reality is the clearest answer to the arguments that deliberately deny the local efforts to bring about change.
