At 8:00 p.m. on August 19, the Australian U23 women's team will meet Myanmar in the final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Championship. Previously, the Australian U23 team lost to Myanmar with a score of 1-2 in the group stage.

"In the loss to Myanmar in Group B, we had just arrived in Vietnam and had less than 1 day to prepare for the match. Despite facing the sudden change in weather, the Australian U23 players still had a balanced match.

We had a chance to equalize and even win. We learned our lesson," Australia U23 head coach Joseph Palatsides said at a press conference before the match.

According to the captain of the Australian U23 team, his players have improved with each match. After the defeat against Myanmar, the Australian U23 team won 1-0 against the Philippines and destroyed Timor Leste 9-0 to enter the semi-finals as the second place in Group B.

Here, U23 Australia defeated the defending champion Vietnam with a score of 2-1 to win the right to play in the final match. It is not an exaggeration to say that U23 Australia is a very strong candidate for the championship. U23 Australia's opponent in the final match is the top team of Group B: Myanmar women's team.

"The best way to win, for us, is to control the ball for as long as possible. When we keep the ball well, the opponent will not have a chance to score. Myanmar will have to retreat deep. The defeat against them in the group stage is like a fire that urges us to respond," said coach Palatsides.

On the Myanmar women's team side, head coach Uki Tetsuro said his team will not let U23 Australia have an easy match.

"Australia U23 is a very strong team. They have improved with each match and I think tomorrow's final will be very difficult for both teams. Although we only have 2 days off to recover, the whole team will try to be ready and fight with all our might. We will never give up," said the Japanese coach.

Myanmar women's team is the best team in the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Championship so far, with a 4-match unbeaten streak since the group stage.

In which, Myanmar beat U23 Australia 1-0, beat Timor Leste 3-0 and turned the defending champion Philippines into the former champion after a 1-1 draw in the final round.

In the semi-finals, the Myanmar women's team excellently defeated Thailand 2-1 to thereby win the right to play in the final match.

The final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Championship between U23 Australia and Myanmar will take place at 8:00 p.m. on August 19. Before that, at 4:30 p.m., the Vietnamese women's team will meet Thailand in the third-place match.
