The Tri An hydroelectric reservoir in Dong Nai province will release water for the third time this year, starting at 10:00 AM tomorrow (October 22nd). It is expected that two floodgates will be opened through the spillway, with a flow rate reaching 320 m³/s.
On October 22, Tri An Hydropower Company (Vinh Cuu district, Dong Nai province) announced that it will conduct its third flood release through the spillway in 2024.

According to hydrological information from the Tri An hydropower reservoir at 8:00 AM on October 22nd, the upstream water level reached 61.77m, and the downstream water level at the power plant reached 4.7m. The current water flow through the power generation turbines is 800m3/s, while the water inflow into the reservoir is 1,120m3/s.
Forecasts for the next 1-2 days indicate that the water inflow into the reservoir will remain high, fluctuating between 1,100 and 1,200 m3/s.
In addition, the water level at the Bien Hoa hydrological station has passed the peak of the high tide, is below alert level 1, and is expected to drop rapidly in the coming days.
Simultaneously, to ensure that the water level in the hydropower reservoir does not exceed the normal water level of 62m, Tri An Hydropower Company will proceed with releasing water through the spillway at 10:00 AM tomorrow (October 23). It is expected that the company will open 1-2 gates, with the amount of water flowing through the spillway ranging from 160m3/s to 320m3/s.
The company has notified the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue at all levels, and local authorities to direct, coordinate, and inform people in downstream areas along the river, including Dong Nai province, to proactively prevent and avoid potential damage.
In late September, the Tri An hydropower plant released water through the dam for the first time in a week. Following that, on October 12th, the plant continued with a second round of water release for three days before the high tide on the Saigon-Dong Nai River exceeded alarm level 3.
