The above information was given by Mr. Pham Le Ngoc Chau, Business Development Manager of MediaTek in Vietnam at the chip maker's press conference on May 23 in Ho Chi Minh City.
Pham Le Ngoc Chau said that, currently, in the broadband market share in Vietnam, MediaTek accounts for nearly 100% of the supply of its Wifi chipset on ONT converters (terminals located at customers' homes to provide services such as Internet, IPTV, VOIP) and Wifi Mesh systems of three major carriers, VNPT, Viettel and FPT. At the same time, the company is supporting carriers to switch from Wifi 5 to Wifi 6 and will soon have more Wifi 7.
In addition, MediaTek is also supporting carriers in 5G commercialization by bringing 5G smartphone products in many segments into the Vietnamese market; In the roadmap to cut 2G and 3G waves in the near future, the company also supports bringing 4G smartphones with good prices to serve domestic users.
A noteworthy information was also given by a representative of MediaTek, that in the past time, besides supporting subsidiaries of carriers such as VNPT Technology of VNPT or Viettel Hightech of Viettel, to produce Make in Vietnam products for domestic telecommunications networks, MediaTek also supports bringing these products to the international market.
Specifically, with its worldwide sales network, MediaTek will cross-sell this Make in Vietnam product to different markets, supporting the introduction of products to different partners around the world to work together. This is what the company has been doing in the past.
It is worth noting that before, MediaTek chips mainly appeared in mid-range smartphone products, but now its chips have appeared more and more on high-end devices such as Vivo, Oppo... And MediaTek is becoming one of the top mobile chip suppliers in the world.
