Being a nature lover, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thien Thu (Son Tra district) often takes her family to visit tourist attractions in the Hoa Bac mountain area during her weekend breaks. This time, her destination was Leaf Village & Farm in Nam My hamlet, which recently opened. According to Ms. Thu, the tourist spots in Hoa Bac share common characteristics: they are airy, with abundant greenery and flowers; and offer outdoor activities such as exploring the farm, planting trees, and enjoying clean and organic agricultural products.

Recently, to meet the demand for overnight stays from tourists, many tourist destinations have built spacious and modern accommodations. “The air in Hoa Bac is fresh and cool; it’s an ideal stop for those who want to temporarily escape the hustle and bustle of urban life. Currently, tourists here are mostly people from Da Nang and surrounding areas, traveling in groups of friends and family. On weekends during the summer, it’s very difficult to book overnight stays at tourist destinations,” Ms. Thu shared.

After the Lunar New Year, the weather is favorable, and tourist destinations in the area are actively developing various products to serve visitors. Mr. Le Quoc Hien, owner of the Nam Yen Valley Grape Vineyard, said that grapes are the main product of the vineyard. Visitors can tour, check in, take photos, and experience picking grapes in the vineyard. Besides grapes, this year the owner has planted passion fruit to provide shade and coolness along the walkways; for the perennial crop area, red-fleshed, yellow-fibered jackfruit trees are grown entirely organically to produce delicious fruit.

Visitors can experience and enjoy buffet-style leaf-wrapped cakes and fresh wine. Meanwhile, Mr. A Lang Nhu, Secretary of the Party Branch of Gian Bi village, said that from the end of 2024, he boldly invested in repairing and upgrading the entire homestay area. At the same time, two more households contributed over 50 million VND, bringing an additional 2,000 square meters of garden land to participate in the model, increasing the model area to 6,000 square meters. On April 19th, Gian Bi and Ta Lang villages, with over 300 Co Tu ethnic households, established a Community Ecotourism Cooperative, opening its doors to tourists this summer.

“Community-based ecotourism cooperatives, formerly community-based ecotourism groups, now have a larger scale and legal framework, as well as increased autonomy for their members. Currently, there are 60 members participating, some contributing capital, others contributing land…”

After its formation, the cooperative has developed many tourism development plans for the coming period, especially this summer. First, they plan to organize a market on Saturdays and Sundays to enhance the experience for tourists visiting Hoa Bac and create jobs for people in the two villages of Ta Lang and Gian Bi. At the same time, they are developing a model for experiencing cooking with wood-fired stoves, featuring local specialties, and making traditional rice wine… To date, 500 guests have booked tourism experiences with the cooperative this summer,” said Mr. A Lang Nhu.

According to the Hoa Vang District People's Committee, Resolution No. 82/NQ-HĐND dated December 17, 2021, of the City People's Council on the principle of piloting the exploitation of tourism services combined with the development of agriculture, forestry, and aquaculture in Hoa Vang district is the legal basis for exploiting the potential advantages of natural ecology and agriculture in Hoa Vang to develop the tourism economy ; it is a mechanism to help the district integrate trade and services into agricultural, forestry, and fishery production. Specifically for Hoa Bac, ecological agriculture is associated with vegetable gardens, fruit trees, fields, livestock farms, fish ponds, rural villages, mountain and forest landscapes, rivers and streams...

Agricultural products are integrated with tourism through homestays and tourist attractions in all villages and hamlets in the area. To date, Hoa Bac has 21 tourist destinations, including 5 ecotourism destinations and 16 community-based tourism destinations. The average income from each tourist destination is 40-50 million VND per month, providing employment for local people with an average income of 5-6 million VND per person per month. These typical ecotourism and community-based tourism destinations are gradually becoming attractive to locals and tourists, creating a diverse range of tourism products for Hoa Vang in particular and the city in general.
