The mediation team of Ha Thach commune, Phu Tho town, has been active in mediating conflicts in the residential area and effectively acting as a "bridge" to bring legal knowledge to the people.

Currently, the commune has 7 mediation teams corresponding to 7 residential areas, comprising 30 mediators who are reputable individuals with legal knowledge and good communication and persuasion skills. Thanks to the guidance of the Commune People's Committee, the mediation teams have played an important role in resolving conflicts, reducing complaints, and ensuring security and order.

Typically, the grassroots mediation team in Hung Thao area operates quite effectively thanks to the dedication of the mediators. However, the mediation process here also faces many difficulties due to the complex nature of some cases, involving land disputes, inheritance issues, or long-standing family conflicts, requiring patience and skillful persuasion. In addition, the low level of legal awareness among some residents sometimes hinders the explanation and mediation efforts.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hai, Secretary of the Party Branch, Head of the Front Committee, and concurrently Head of the mediation team in Hung Thao area, said: "Conflicts in residential areas are multifaceted and stem from many different causes. Therefore, to do mediation work well, grassroots mediators must have a thorough understanding of the law. At the same time, they need to be reputable, impartial, and able to listen and understand in order to resolve conflicts among the people in a fair and reasonable manner."

In 2024, mediation teams in Ha Thach received 30 cases, including those carried over from the previous year, with approximately 60% of them successfully mediated. This demonstrates the important and timely role of mediation in resolving conflicts at the grassroots level.

To improve the quality of mediation activities, the People's Committee of Ha Thach commune has implemented many specific solutions. According to Mr. Le Van Quyet, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Thach commune, the local government has strengthened propaganda work, raising awareness and responsibility of commune officials and civil servants regarding mediation work. At the same time, the commune encourages the participation of mass organizations and members in mediation activities; sends mediators to training courses to enhance their legal knowledge. Updating the content of new legal documents, especially regulations related to the rights and obligations of citizens, regulations on land, marriage and family, property disputes, etc., helps mediators have sufficient knowledge to resolve disputes effectively. In addition, the commune also links mediation work with the dissemination and education of law and encourages people to adopt a civilized lifestyle, contributing to building a cultural life in residential areas.
