Improving the legal framework for public health.

On the afternoon of May 20th, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Health organized a policy consultation conference on the revised Law on Donation, Procurement, and Transplantation of Human Tissues, Organs, and Cadavers. The conference was held in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation from provinces and cities, as well as several central and local hospitals.

Attending and chairing the conference at the Tuyen Quang provincial branch was Comrade Vuong Ngoc Ha, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Comrade Vuong Ngoc Ha, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, presided over the meeting at the Tuyen Quang provincial location.

The Law on Donation, Procurement, and Transplantation of Human Tissues, Organs, and Cadavers was passed by the 11th National Assembly (6th session) on November 29, 2006, and officially came into effect on July 1, 2007. It comprises 6 chapters and 40 articles. Over 18 years of implementation, the law has provided an important legal basis for the healthcare sector. However, due to the rapid changes in socio- economic conditions and related factors, some current regulations have revealed limitations and inadequacies, no longer ensuring their suitability and feasibility in practice.

The purpose of this consultative conference is to continue building, amending, and perfecting the legal framework in a synchronized manner. This will create a favorable legal environment for the donation, procurement, and transplantation of tissues, organs, and bodies in Vietnam; contributing to the successful implementation of the Party's objectives outlined in Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW of the 12th Central Committee on strengthening the protection, care, and improvement of people's health in the new situation.
