Simple and heartfelt New Year's greetings from students.
In front of the psychological counseling room at Tay Thanh High School (Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City), in the days leading up to Tet, beautiful apricot blossom branches appear, which we teachers jokingly call "Tet New Year's trees".
This is the product of student "collaborators" from various classes working with the school's psychological counseling room.
This idea was implemented under the "direction" of psychologist Nguyen Thi Huong, the teacher in charge of the psychological counseling room.
Hanging from these apricot blossom branches are countless colorful pieces of paper—green, red, purple, and yellow—bearing meaningful New Year's greetings from students to their school, teachers, friends, and family.
A card read: “To all the readers of this letter, wishing you a peaceful and happy New Year, with family reunions... May the New Year bring peace and all your wishes come true. May you have a memorable school year and achieve academic excellence. Let go of the bad things of the past year...”
Another student, @lhthnahs26, wished herself: “Wishing myself a happier new year than I am now... Thank you to everyone who came and went in 2023... I hope this year will be good for me.”
The simple, heartfelt New Year's greetings from the students partly reveal their inner world , emotions, and their attachment to their school and friends.
Students pose for photos in the Lunar New Year decorations at school.
"Spring has arrived, my dear."
During a recent literature lesson, the teacher had 11th-grade students showcase their poetry skills to help them better understand poetic forms and express their feelings about "spring." The teacher collected several "poems" from these "future poets" on the theme of Tet (Vietnamese New Year).
A student with the pen name Thanh Ha welcomes the spring with five-word poems:
Spring has arrived, my dear!
It seemed so far away.
And now spring has arrived.
The streets are crowded with people...!
TNGHân, in a more mature way, offered her best wishes to young people fortunate enough to have happy families this spring:
A happy family is just like this.
The children still have both parents.
Satisfied and content, sleep soundly.
Happy, healthy, and warm in loving embrace.
Give your child all your love and affection.
Sending my child all the dreams I hope to build.
Only love remains forever.
This is what a happy family looks like!
The female "author" TVKieu is more "philosophical," with prose poems in the style of essays about the human condition and Tet (Vietnamese New Year) associated with family happiness. The author writes:
Humans are like rocks, worn down by life into various forms.
Some people give up, becoming numb to it all;
Some people are resilient and manage to maintain their integrity.
Life is nothing more than a struggle.
But no matter how hard things get, we all have a place to return to.
That's family!
New Year's greetings from students
And here is the poem "co-authored" by two students, HGTrinh and NTTVy. The poem is titled "Approaching Tet," with a fast-paced, urgent tone, mixed with the mischievousness of youth. It includes several stanzas:
The Lunar New Year is approaching.
Flowers and fruits gradually appear.
The classroom was buzzing with activity.
Friends are excited...
The Lunar New Year is approaching.
Reduce stress
Study diligently
Why is it so confusing...?
When teachers allow students to express themselves freely, we see the richness in their souls; we realize that the feeling of spring holds a powerful vitality in the hearts of our students.
