Previously, the Ministry of Education and Training sent a document to provinces, cities, universities, and vocational training institutions requesting coordination in directing and organizing the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year in conjunction with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Ministry of National Education. The Ministry requested that students return to school at least 1 week before the opening day. For grades 1, 9, and 12, students should return to school at least 2 weeks before the opening day. This adjustment helps grades 1, 9, and 12 prepare for the transition exam or graduation exam, and take time to consolidate knowledge and form a learning routine before entering the new school year.

At the opening ceremony of the new school year, the school's planned activities (if any) were organized concisely, ending before 8:00 a.m. From 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., all delegates, teachers, and students fully attended the contents of the program organized by the Ministry of Education and Training (including performing the flag-raising ceremony, singing the National Anthem at the same time as the flag-raising ceremony at the National Convention Center; listening to the speech of General Secretary To Lam).

According to the Department of Education and Training, in the new school year 2025-2026, the whole province will have more than 17,000 groups and classes with nearly 500,000 students from preschool to high school. According to the plan, schools will organize the opening day of the new school year on September 5, 2025.
