Students throughout Da Nang City will have a day off from school starting the afternoon of October 22nd.

To ensure safety during Typhoon No. 12, the Da Nang Department of Education decided to suspend classes for preschool children, students, and trainees throughout the city from the afternoon of October 22nd.

On October 22nd, the Da Nang Department of Education and Training issued a document to the People's Committees of communes, wards, and special zones; schools and centers under the Department; vocational education institutions; and universities and private colleges regarding the suspension of classes for students due to Typhoon No. 12.

Accordingly, the Da Nang Department of Education and Training has requested all units to inform preschool children, students, and trainees throughout the city to take the afternoon of October 22nd and all day on October 23rd off from school.

Educational institutions that provide boarding services decide on the time and notify parents promptly so they can pick up their children (possibly after lunchtime); they also assign teachers and staff to supervise and care for preschool children and students when parents have not yet arrived to pick them up.

Furthermore, the Da Nang Department of Education and Training requires ethnic boarding and semi-boarding schools to strengthen management and care for students; and to prevent students from returning home on their own when safety conditions are not guaranteed. In addition, private universities and vocational education institutions should proactively decide on the attendance of students based on the actual situation.

The Da Nang Department of Education and Training also requested that schools proactively and urgently organize cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms after the storm, once the water recedes and the rain stops, so that students can return to school as soon as possible.

Also this morning, the Central Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Station issued a forecast that from the afternoon of October 22nd to the morning of October 24th, heavy rain will intensify in Da Nang City. Specifically, in the lowland, midland, and mountainous areas of the southern part of the city, rainfall is expected to reach 250–500 mm, with some areas exceeding 700 mm. The northwestern area (such as Hoa Bac and Hoa Lien) will experience moderate to very heavy rain, generally 200–300 mm, with some areas potentially exceeding 450 mm. A warning has been issued for heavy rainfall exceeding 200 mm in 3 hours.

At 8:00 AM on October 22nd, Typhoon Fengshen (Typhoon No. 12) was approximately 270km east-northeast of Da Nang City. The strongest winds near the center of the typhoon reached level 10 (89-102 km/h), with gusts up to level 12. The forecast for the next 3 hours is that Typhoon Fengshen will move slowly westward at a speed of approximately 10 km/h.

Forecast for the next 24 hours: Typhoon Fengshen (Typhoon No. 12) in the coastal waters from Hue City to Quang Ngai will change direction to the West-Southwest, continue to move slowly at a speed of about 10-15 km/h, and gradually weaken into a tropical depression with intensity level 7, gusting to level 9.

At approximately 7 PM on October 23rd, the tropical depression over southern Laos continued to move slowly in a west-southwest direction, traveling 10-15 km per hour, gradually weakening into a low-pressure area.
