"Where you study is not as important as how hard you try"

On the day the 2024 high school graduation exam results were announced, Minh was so nervous and excited that he couldn't sleep. For Minh, although he could estimate the score, he still had to wait for the results to get the exact score. The moment he knew the score, Minh shouted with joy. The score of 28.5 for block C00 (Literature: 8.75; History: 9.75; Geography: 10) was the sweet result of the young man's tireless efforts.

For Minh, this is not only a score that can open new doors for himself, but also proves the saying: "Where you study is not as important as how hard you try."

Recalling the moment he failed to get into public grade 10, Minh shared: "That year, I was quite sad when I failed to get into a public school like my friends. If I had gone to a private school, my family would not have been able to afford it, so the only option left was to study at a Continuing Education Center."

Minh studied at the District 1 Continuing Education Center, and at that time, he did not have high expectations for his time there. However, things gradually changed, Minh had more experiences and better memories than he could have imagined. Minh expressed: "I received a lot of attention from teachers, was able to compete in the city-level excellent student competition, and was given the opportunity to study well. In grades 11 and 12, I was an excellent student. My classmates were also friendly and cheerful, and we had many memories together."

From his own experience, Minh clearly sees that studying at a vocational training center will have differences. Including a lighter curriculum, fewer extracurricular activities than public or private schools. However, for Minh, that is not the deciding factor in how he plans to direct his future.

"Most of my classmates only intend to take the exam to graduate, very few intend to take the university entrance exam. However, when they learned that I wanted to take the university entrance exam, the teachers were very supportive and created favorable conditions for me. I also took the initiative to study on my own to gain solid knowledge," Minh shared.

With the high score as desired, Minh has now registered his wish to study Journalism at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City. The young man expressed his excitement and looked forward to his time as a student. Currently, Minh is working part-time and studying English to improve his knowledge.

"Study at GDTX center, why not?"

The 10th grade admissions in Ho Chi Minh City are receiving much public attention. According to Dan Viet reporters, many young people are facing difficulties in choosing which school to attend after failing their wishes at public schools.

A young person shared: "The thing is, I failed all three of my admissions choices just because I made too many mistakes. My father has decided to send me to a private school. But I know my family's finances are just enough, not enough. I feel a little guilty towards my father and my family. I also want to try to advise my father to let me learn a trade or study somewhere with a lower tuition fee, but I haven't decided whether to advise or not."

As someone who has directly experienced the educational environment at the GDTX center, and also someone who scored 10 points in the 2024 high school graduation exam, when listening to the sharing of students who are wondering whether to choose a private school or a GDTX center, Minh remembers himself 3 years ago.

"Studying at a Continuing Education Center, why not? Of course, each environment will have certain advantages, but studying at a Continuing Education Center does not affect who you decide to be. Therefore, I hope young people are confident and make the right choice for themselves," Minh affirmed.

Sharing about the training quality of GDTX centers in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City informed: "The results of the 2024 high school graduation exam, for independent candidates, GDTX, the high school graduation rate is also up to 97.39%. This has proven the training quality of GDTX centers in the city. Here, teaching and learning is no different from high schools. Along with that, many students have high entrance scores, and the conditions for recruiting teachers are the same as other high schools. Ho Chi Minh City invests in GDTX centers no differently than high schools".
