On April 25th, the 12th Provincial People's Council of Gia Lai Province held its 26th (special) session, passing several important resolutions. Among them, the provincial People's Council delegates voted to approve the plan to reorganize administrative units, reducing the number of communes and wards to 77.

The session was chaired by Mr. and Mrs.: Ho Van Nien, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Truong Van Dat, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; and Ayun H'But, Provincial Party Committee Member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council.

Also attending the session were Mr. Chau Ngoc Tuan, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Luong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, the Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and leaders of provincial departments and agencies.

Based on the submissions from the Provincial People's Committee, the verification reports from the Provincial People's Council Committees, and the discussions, the delegates of the Provincial People's Council voted to approve six important resolutions. These included a resolution approving the plan to reorganize commune-level administrative units in Gia Lai province, reducing the number from 218 to 77 (including 8 wards and 69 communes), a decrease of 133 commune-level administrative units. Simultaneously, the resolution approved the plan to reorganize the administrative units of Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces, retaining the name Gia Lai province, with the political and administrative center located in Binh Dinh province.

Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Ho Van Nien delivered the closing remarks at the session.

In his closing remarks at the session, the Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Ho Van Nien, requested that immediately after the session, the Provincial People's Committee and relevant agencies and units promptly and seriously implement the resolutions that have been passed. He instructed the Provincial People's Committee to promptly concretize the Provincial People's Council Resolution into regulations, plans, and clear guidelines outlining tasks and responsibilities for implementation, ensuring proper procedures and compliance with the law. He also urged the prompt completion of the dossier for the Project on the reorganization of provincial and commune-level administrative units, submitting it to the central agencies according to the correct procedures and regulations, and ensuring compliance with the central government's requirement of before May 1, 2025.

The Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations are requested to strengthen supervision, promote propaganda, and mobilize the people to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and the State's laws, especially the purpose and significance of the merger and consolidation of provincial-level administrative units and the reorganization of commune-level administrative units, creating high consensus and unity among cadres, Party members, and all strata of the people in the implementation process.
