Sports festival celebrating 70 years of Petrolimex opens in the Southeast region

On April 6, 2025, Vietnam National Petroleum Group ( Petrolimex / Group) opened the Petrolimex Workers and Employees Sports Festival in Ba Ria - Vung Tau with the participation of nearly 350 athletes from 12 units in the Southeast region and Petrolimex Singapore.

Member of the Government Party Committee, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Directors Pham Van Thanh spoke at the opening ceremony of the Sports Festival.

Chairman and Director of Ba Ria Vung Tau Petroleum Company - Head of the Organizing Committee of the Sports Festival Quan Ngoc San delivered the opening speech of the Sports Festival.

Attending the opening ceremony, on Petrolimex's side were Member of the Government Party Committee, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Directors Pham Van Thanh; Deputy General Director Nguyen Sy Cuong; Member of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Industry and Trade Trade Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Petroleum Trade Union Nguyen Thanh Son; Head of the Board of Directors' General Affairs Committee Tran Sy Giang; Members of the Standing Committee, members of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Petroleum Trade Union; members of the Arts and Sports Subcommittee; On the side of the coordinating unit to host the Sports Festival, there were Chairman and Director of Ba Ria Vung Tau Petroleum Company - Head of the Sports Festival Organizing Committee Quan Ngoc San and leaders of Petrolimex member units.

The sports festival is part of the plan to celebrate important events of the country, welcome the Party Congresses at all levels; welcome the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day and International Labor Day on May 1; towards the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (January 12, 1956 - January 12, 2026). Athletes will compete in 06 sports including Football, Tennis, Badminton, Table Tennis, Pickleball and Chinese Chess. This is a series of meaningful activities to promote sports activities, improve the health of Petrolimex employees to serve business activities well as well as promote the tradition of solidarity, determination, and readiness to overcome all difficulties and challenges.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Sports Festival, Chairman and Director of Ba Ria Vung Tau Petroleum Company - Head of the Organizing Committee of the Sports Festival Quan Ngoc San affirmed that the Sports Festival is an opportunity for employees of units in the Region to compete to build a model of Petrolimex employees "Responsible - Knowledgeable - Civilized", with abundant health "to go further" in the career of building and developing the Vietnam National Petroleum Group. The Head of the Organizing Committee also asked the athletes to promote the spirit of solidarity, compete honestly and nobly, demonstrating the beauty of Petrolimex culture in sports.

In order to encourage the athletes before the competition, Member of the Government Party Committee, Party Secretary, Chairman of Petrolimex Board of Directors Pham Van Thanh emphasized that, in addition to production and business activities, physical training and sports movements are always given special attention by the Group's Board of Directors. The Sports Festival is not only a playground for employees to improve their health but also a place to demonstrate the spirit of solidarity, determination to conquer challenges, and together strive for new achievements in work and life. Chairman of the Board of Directors Pham Van Thanh highly appreciated the careful preparation of the Arts and Sports Subcommittee, the Vietnam Petroleum Trade Union, the Organizing Committee of the Sports Festival, and units in the Southeast region, especially Ba Ria Vung Tau Petroleum Company - the host unit, and wished the Sports Festival will leave its mark through honest, noble competitions, memorable competitions to contribute to creating a brilliant successful season.

The champions will be revealed at the Closing Ceremony held on the same evening. The Southeast Regional Sports Festival continues to affirm that this is an event that not only promotes mass sports activities but also serves as an opportunity for workers to exchange, promote corporate culture, and motivate employees to strive to achieve production and business goals in 2025 and the following years.
